In the game you felt something when Sarah was killed in the show she was just annoying. They changed the show so much away from the game this might as well be another Walking Dead episode. Everything moved to slow and in the end of the episode I was bored out of my mind. On the positive side the world around did feel like a world that is in pain. That did came over from the game a bit. But the characters we should care about in this one was just not there. How can you mess up the casting so badly.… Expand

    This is a slap in the face for all fans of the series. Complete misscast. Don't give a damn about canon. The acting is zero. Moreover, most of the original characters do not resemble themselves, both externally and in their moral image.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Nope I'm not feeling it. I'm a big fan of the original game but this is a weak adaptation. I tried to like it but it falls so short I just couldn't. I rolled my eyes when the fungus was blamed on climate change. The writing and casting are the weakest links, followed by the directing. The opening of the original game is stunning and has a dramatic impact on the viewer. In the TV show on the other hand, it is completely watered down and diluted so it loses most of that impact. The main players are badly miscast and neither look nor act the part. Also they mumble their lines regularly which is a failure of the director. Pacing is slow, too much talking but not saying anything. Sarah is unlikeable and spends her time scowling, hostile and angry, nothing like the pleasant daughter of Joel in the game. The original game's voice actors for Joel and Ellie are light years ahead of their counterparts in the TV show. And then to the worst part, the complete miscasting of the most important character, Ellie. The casting director should look for a new career.… Expand

    this show is ok. It is not groundbreaking masterpiece or horrible velma level garbage, but it made me like tlou games less. It made me realize how much of a burden gameplay really is in TLOU games. It is sad because I really like story of tlou games, but now when I look back where is no need to play tlou games when show exists. This makes me really sad honestly.

    It dragged so long! I don't recognise the two main stars as Joel and Ellie. They are completely different. They have changed so much that this is the Last of Us in name only.

    I like the game and it cost me 1 hour to watch it cause I am in china.but I got disappointed.
    The choose of Ellie’s actor is an absolutely facking joke.

    Horrible casting, horrible writing, and a very clearly low budget made this pretty much unwatchable. Not to mention the story in episode 3 didn’t make sense. Replay the game and tell me why they changed it so much.

    All the scenes do not look very realistic, the apocalypse is not felt. The cast does not match the original. Fake ratings 10/10 does not correspond to reality, the series is not based on a game, but on some kind of illusion

    Pedro is good as Joel in the show, but something feels weird with Bella as Ellie (also because she looks like she is 20+ years old when she is supposed to be a teenager).

    As always, Neil (the creator of the game and show) is focusing more in the wokeism than in the actual show (same for the games).    … Expand

Any similarity with the games Joel its coincidential. The Og himself killed over 70 explorers only in pittsburg bringing fear to the whole group of insurgents.     As a huge TLOU fan, they **** it in every aspect. Don't listen to the people who say it is faithful to the game -- a lot of them piss their pants, probably didnt play the game or their IQ is stone level and didnt get the greatness of the writting when they played then. It deserves a lower score.

    The only good episode is the last one, and the only really about the main characters. I lost my time with this show, theres no consistency, plenty of empty episodes, key situations of the game absent. Unlike the game, its very bad written, wich is unbeliable giving the fact that the games one is the best screenplay of the las 10 years iof any industry.

    I waited till the end to rate the season, glad i did it, it start on level but continue floping till the last episode, they were clueless of what they had in their hands, they forgot to develop the main caharcters, theres no emotional investment to keep going through the season, i had to force myself to finish it.

    Hahaha its so laughlable, by any means this show its expanding the lore of the gama or the story. It cuts 80% of the games scecenes and best dialogue, every change is for worse overall and only in the sixth episode are the only worth dialogue aditions. Ep 3 is not a expansion is a change of the story you d*mb. The whole series feels more like a alternative take of the story than an adaptation.

    I quitted then and there, as I do not emotionally rom coms nor homosexuality. Hence a round zero.

    A Beautiful Disappointment.
    Not as good as the game... the acting, the pacing, the interactions, the lack of infected and marauders or bandits, unnecessary side stories, deviations from the main story-line. Feels rushed.
    The best parts of the TV show are 1-for-1 recreations of the game & the gorgeous scenery of a dead world.

    The show is worse when it moves away from the game's writing, but its insulting when they copy pasted some dialogues just to add a silly line between and change the whole spirit of the scene. Theres laziness doing the show, with a lot of passivity for the details of the original script. The lack of zombies is due to lack of budget in producers words, not due to creative design, is pure medicrity.

    Episodes 1 and 2 were ok.
    Episode 3 was unnecessary, it was a pointless side-story with no impact on the main story.
    If this is the direction the show is going this will get worst as episodes are released.

    There are long boring charcter dialogues that doent captivate. There are no monsters or zombies - could be any show like walking dead, but the boring parts.
    * Update - this show is rediculously boring and dumb. A bad walking dead, which was also just a dumb drama.

    Ellie is one of the most beloved video game characters of all time & to cast Bella Ramsey for her role is a really bad joke. There are so many other qualified legit actresses that would have been perfect for her role I cant help but wonder if there was nepotism involved in her casting. I cringe every time she tries to mimic Ellie, its not even close to working. The worst part is seeing the mainstream media discrediting any online criticism as "review bombing" or "homophobia". Im %100 liberal but I am sick & tired of the entertainment industry trying to insert itself as the main battlefield in the culture wars. It's almost as if they're trying to alienate people who aren't on the fringe. If you expect this show to pull on your heart stings like the game you will likely be annoyed & disappointed. As a gay guy, I appreciated the fact that they were highlighting a relationship that was present in the game, but the way it was done came off as a poorly-wrought soap opera something that Lucille Bluth could have written while on a bender, rather than something realistic to actual gay relationships or at all coming close to the characters portrayed in the game.

    Pedro Pascal is the only shining light in this series that gives it any kind of dramatic power and prestige. I would have liked two episodes with the gay couple and make it about them being with Ellie and Pedro while cracking jokes, engaging in witty humor, and killing zombies. Instead, we got this soap opera straight of of Days of Our Lives or The Bachelor with people ponderously gazing out windows and crying buckets of tears every few scenes. It was nice that they started out with the badass gun collection, handyman skillset, and manly way to subvert the typical gay stereotypes, but then the piano scenes and everyone crying 24/7 and giggling over strawberries rubbed me the wrong way. Rather than a tale of badasses, it went out with a whimper and a tear. Even staying true to the anger with the original game end to the couple would have been tougher and more manly and more gay in my opinion. But what do I know, I'm just a gay guy that was unimpressed with the direction. They ruined my man Ron Swanson like this and did this couple that was far more humorous and witty dirty by bad directing.    … Expand

    Overhyped show to an overhyped game. The story isn't really that extraordinary. Stories like this have been told countless times. In the game it kinda works a little, because you are more immersed into it. But as a show it's just another zombie show. And seriously we've had enough of those by now.

    The truth is, this adaptation does not convince me, it does not bring anything new, I hope this series improves, it is only the first chapter so I have hope but while I am disappointed

    The Last of Us takes up the mantle The Walking Dead set down long before it left the air, picking up where that show left off instead of attempting to trod its well-worn path. ... The Last of Us operates entirely differently, keeping the action centered on Joel and Ellie throughout the main story, and providing side characters with flashback spin-offs. We get to appreciate these side characters, and even become greatly endeared to them, but within the confines of their own story.

    The show’s rough-hewn center is the surrogate father-daughter bond between Joel and Ellie, but the series works best as an anthropological travelogue of post-catastrophe subcultures, teasing out the disparate ways that survivors rebuild mini-societies and create new alignments of power.
