It’s an intriguing setup, forcing unlikely allies together and confining enemies in the same small space. The CGI quality of the mist is sometimes spotty, but the dramatic effect for viewers of suddenly being engulfed in gray gloom is enjoyably squirmy. If Torpe goes too far, it’s with the gore, which tends to be comedically graphic, and ruins the psychological tension the episode has spent time building. Read full review

So far, The Mist hasn’t given viewers much to care about. It’s all pretty standard plot thickeners. On the other hand, it’s not badly done--atmospheric, so to speak, if unseen horrors are your thing. Read full review

It’s one of those programs that shows way too much and doesn’t allow for tension to build. We see the impact of the mist way too quickly for a show that now has to maintain suspense over the course of a season. And the special effects are too thin to be actually terrifying. Read full review

None of the horror scenes are constructed to evoke any sense of suspense. There are a few jump scares, but even timid viewers who hide behind their hands during PG-13 movies (perhaps this critic) have nothing to worry about here. I didn't read the book, but I did watch the movie on cable when I was younger and I love this TV adaption. It's the first show in a long time, other than Game of Thrones, that I've tuned into every week and I always want to see what happens next. I like the cast, the story and the pacing andI didn't read the book, but I did watch the movie on cable when I was younger and I love this TV adaption. One thing I gotta say first. It is NOT like the movie or the book. Think of it as more of a re imagination of The Mist. The characters and the story are GOOD and despite a lot of people saying the exact opposite the acting is better than expected especially since a lot of actors are prettyOne thing I gotta say first. This tv show is absolute tone-death.Non of the scenes has the proper build up or care put into it, it would need in order to make a lasting impression on the viewer.Its as if the producer has said to himself:"This script is **** but we have to film it anyways,so lets get over with it.TheThis tv show is absolute tone-death.Non of the scenes has the proper build up or care put into it, it would need in order to make a lasting impression on the viewer.Its as if the producer has said to himself:"This script is **** but we have to film it anyways,so lets get over with it.The faster we are done with shooting this, the faster we all can go home again!"Its really like they where not even trying to make any of the scenes interesting or memorable for the viewer.Almost as if they tried on purpose to shoot every scene in the least interesting way possible with the most boring and forced dialog thinkable,like in some elaborated trolling scheme.

Everything in this TV show feels forced,out of place(in a bad way!),stiff,awkward and unintentionally cringeworty.From the clichéic and stereotype dialogs coming out of the mostly unlikable , uninteresting and unimaginary characters over really bad special effects to the lack of any real monsters in the mist.In the movie we get a diverse cast of exotic alien creatures in all shapes,forms and sizes,like giant tentacle monsters with claws and sharp teeth or acid-web spraying spiders!In this tv show we get an army of cockroaches and moth attacking people and reindeer's crashing into driving cars...what a downgrade!

I have watched the first 3 episodes so far.The first is by far the worst the other 2 are a bit better but not by much.Overall those first 3 episodes are laughably bad,concentrating only on the depressing and annoying melodrama between the characters instead of any cool monster action at all.This tv show is not really about the mist or monsters coming out of the mist.For this danish producer the mist is only a tool for creating his shockingly bad melodramatic teenager soap opera about a emo gay teen wearing black eyeliner probably raping(we don't know yet but the show hints at least in this direction) his best friend while she is drunk and then blaming it on the famous footballplayer she is in love with!Why do gay guys in those kind of shows always get potrait as borderline and overly girlish? Beside of that the only thing which attacks anyone in this tv show,beside of the producer attacking the taste of the viewers, are people attacking other people in very bad choreographed fight scenes and animals attacking people,as i said before no real monsters in this mess of a show.And it has definitely nothing to do with the movie or stephen kings novel in the slightest.

Its like police officers say to people on a crime scene:"There is nothing to see here people, just move on!" Except with the difference that in this case its actually true.… Expand

Its just awful! So much could have been done with stephen kings the mist and another potentially great series is ruined!! The characters are flat and annoying as hell. Its the typical new TV show today, the characters bash god, blah blah blah . how original? How flat can you be? nice job onIts just awful! Just seen the first episode of The Mist, and it is more than enough to conclude this is nothing but dreadful, dreadful garbage. A SJW fart in a bag that has nothing whatsoever to do with Stephen King's work. Stay far, far away from this crap.

I have loved Stephen King's work for a long time and I had hoped that Netflix would have managed to live up to such masterpieces. Sadly this season truly failed. The season felt rushed through and the storylines were very thin. The Mist and the way it was worked was not at all scary, in truth it was extremely mild and the way the more gory aspects were done fell very short.

I watched the season from beginning to end over several days because I would get annoyed with how it went that I actually needed to take time to cool down. I found many parts of the story ridiculous and forced together. I truly do hope that there is not a season two of the Mist.… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This typical, formulaic, ineptly-produced series does everything wrong. It starts with a "shocking" scene to grab our attention because -- guess what? -- the next half hour-plus will be nothing but exposition. For some reason, the clods in H-wood seem to think we need to *know something* about their characters so we can *care* about them. This brainless format is so old that it pre-dates Greek tragedy. It kills drama, stopping it dead in its tracks. In this case, the characters are all dumb, contrived and/or bland., making matters worse. H-wood idiots have no sense of dramatic structure. They also seem to think that am underlying "mystery" is mandatory and flesh-eating insects are still horrifying (if they ever were). It's basically a remake of Lost (another turd), so the series can go in any direction it wants and be stretched out as long as possible.… Expand
