I must admit, I was not happy when I heard there was going to be another daytime talk show, so for the first few months, I didn't watch. I happened to catch an episode a month ago and liked it. I think it's better than The View. They don't talk over each other and they talk about every day things, not necessarily news worthy events only.
I love this show! These are real women, talking like real women, about a lot of the things that matter to real women (and men too).
There is a genuine warmth and affection between them and it makes me feel like I'm listening to my best friends discussing what matters to us.
Long live The Talk!
This mommy-answer to "The View" is a somewhat dumbed-down version of that show except here the panel--Julie Chen, Sharon Osbourne, Holly Robinson Peete, Leah Remini, Sara Gilbert and Marissa Jaret Winokur--discuss traditional "women's topics," i.e. kids, cooking and such.
Unlike "The View," there were no topical references--the show could have been filmed five years ago for all its relevance--unless you count the moment Osbourne turned a vague discussion of divorce law reform into a rant against cyberbullying.
This is a wonderful group of women. Various personality types and they all respect each other and their audience. I watch every chance I get. There is occasional tension between them but they handle it in a way that I wish our politicians, leaders and other TV personalities and shows would emulate.
Eventhough I am not a mom yet, I still watch the show regularly. And it is fun. The hosts don't act like big shots. The topics that are discussed, especially during the beginning of he show are well-picked. Keep going gals :)
Why would anyone watch a show with Sharon Osborne ??? The horrible things she said about Susan Boyle are unforgivable. She thought she was so cute and funny making remarks about Susan Boyle’s appearance. Why don’t we take away your $500 hair cut, your professional make-up and all the things money can buy including plastic surgery and see what you look like Sharon. You are not attractive but you feel empowered by your fame and money to put someone down. Susan Boyle is a magnificent talent. She may not have grown up in a household where she was introduced to eyebrow plucking and trips to the hair Solon, but she is a more beautiful person than you will ever be Sharon. Shame on anyone that supports this show with Sharon Osborne a part of it!
This show definitely has its issues (Sharon Osbourne, too much focus on celebrity gossip, etc.), but even on its worst day, its heads and shoulders above The View, which has been a poor, trashy (thanks to the idiotic fart bag Whoopi Goldberg) imitator of itself ever since Meredith Vieira left. I appreciate how they allow each other to speak without all the crosstalk and they're not disrespectful to each other or their guests. Another thing I prefer about them is from day 1 they never pretended to be a serious or "news" show. What's the point in watching a show that claps itself on the back for talking politics when the hosts are not well informed and scream at each other? Keep on sludging and sliming your way along, View (you should've been canceled years ago). Keep going, Talk ladies!
Leah and Holly are gone and I'm sure Sharon isn't far behind! No appeal to watch the show anymore. So, I'm over it! Holly amd Leah were magical together.
