The show is really well executed with solid acting, and an initially very intriguing storyline. It falls flat at the tail end though, turning out to be too one-dimensional. Everyone is guilty and killing them is the only response.

This should have been a movie. There wasn't enough source material for an 8-part series. The plot is glacially slow. The characters are boring. And the twist is obvious. Reacher is a much better show. Check it out

Just a fairly average show that hits enough of the right notes to be watchable. Seems like both the critics and audience are exaggerating how good or bad they think this is. Everything has to be viewed through the lens of "woke vs anti-woke" nowadays and people are losing any sense of nuance because of this perceived culture war. This show had an interesting premise and there are definitely many entertaining scenes, but the story and dialogue felt overly long and dragged out. This easily could've been a much tighter 4 part mini-series. Reacher was a much better show if you want a solid revenge tale.… Expand

Chris Pratt was quite committed to the role, of that I have no doubt, but if this story had been sold to me as a two-hour movie, I would have had no objection.

The series is violent and entertaining enough as far as the action genre is concerned, which is its 100% focus. There is no deceit in that regard, but other than that it offers nothing of real plot value, not even in terms of criticizing the exploitative policies to which the Marines and the military in general are exposed by the government. In this case using them as guinea pigs to test drugs.

Overall, in this story you could basically intersperse the protagonist played by Pratt with Frank Castle, The Punisher and maybe it would be a little more believable, because there comes a point where the character becomes a sort of super-soldier who survives basically everything in his quest for revenge.
Logistically and financially sustainable with only his own talents gets to look ridiculous after a while.

I understand why it did well in terms of viewership, but overall it has no new attributes that would make it stand out from a lot of similar projects.

It's more than fine as entertainment for a weekend, just keep in mind that the whole thing will demand a little more than 8 hours of your time.… Expand
