The result is a show that satisfyingly deals more in intimate moments rather than overly relying on big action set pieces or CGI'd mythical creatures to conjure excitement. ... Like any good fantasy epic, The Wheel of Time is one that promises very impressive returns, provided audiences are willing to settle in for the long haul.
Only time will tell as to how the rest of the season will play out, but the first four episodes provide a promising start, setting up bigger stakes – not an easy feat when you consider what happened in season 1. Tearing our heroes apart was a risk but it gives them time to shine on their own and even more of a reason to fight – to find their way back to each other.

While Martin’s gritty, skeptical, and brutal look at the genre appealed to an HBO audience, I’m not sure Jordan’s romantic, mystical, and hopeful version will be as ubiquitously embraced. The Wheel of Time can’t be the next Game of Thrones. It’s just not in the source material’s DNA. But Prime Video’s series has the chance to be the first true Wheel of Time, and that excites this all-too-earnest nerd to bits.
A slow start paves the way for a satisfyingly ambitious fantasy that fans of the genre can really get stuck into. For the uninitiated, though, it might all sound like a load of trollocs.
The good news for fantasy-hungry viewers is that this lush and ambitious series quickly approaches “Thrones,” and even Peter Jackson’s Tolkien films, in grandeur and polish. It’s in the verve of life and depth of character that “Wheel” is a few revolutions behind.
What emerges thus feels like another fantasy-based soap opera, populated by fantastic creatures and stiff dialogue filled with ominous warnings like "The dark one is coming for your friends."
It’s a show that is so serious in terms of tone and dialogue as to verge on parody. There’s so little personality here, which is a hole into which almost all of the mediocre “Game of Thrones” riffs fall.
I love fantasy and that is probably the only reason I gave such a high score to this. It's characters are okay, but kinda confusing and the plot is decent. Everything in this series is mediocre.

While the world and visuals of the show are amazing to look at the storytelling felt somewhat lackluster. A good watch in the end but left me wanting more.

This show has a lot going for it and you can see that a lot of money has been spent on what works. The cast, sets, costumes and some of the effects are incredible. Ultimately it fails at the one thing all series need; good story telling. The first season suffered from poor pacing, seeming to rush through the source material only to slow right down to focus on the show runner’s original content. It is a shame because what could have been interesting changes to the story by adding new concepts, we have the plot sidelined for poorly handled love stories seemingly designed to age up the material. The second season follows suit. After four episodes we are only now getting the real call to adventure. Half way through the season and I’m too bored to continue.
