Fantastic show. Great history lesson on the evolution of the portrayal of LGBT people. Loved it!

The bigots are out in full force brigading the ratings because they can't stand when minorities' stories are told on the screen. And then they expect to take audience ratings seriously. Pfff....

Enough already with the identity politics on steroids. And to preempt the charges that I'm a bigot, I was advocating for gay rights 20 years ago, way before gay rights was recognized as a human rights.

Don't pretend you're some enlightened soul you hypocrite. You just left a negative review based not on the quality of the series, but because you have an issue with "identity politics". Grow up, and stop being a bigot. Oh, and gay rights were a mainstream thing 20 years ago. Claiming that you were somehow ahead of the curve on that is beyond pathetic.

    Wonderfully through, powerfully outspoken five-part docuseries. [17 Feb - 1 Mar 2020, p.9]

While it feels like a 101-level course in LGBTQIA+ representation in TV, Visible: Out On Television is still a good overview of just how far the medium has come in this regard, and how far it has to go.

Spanning seven decades, Visible is comprehensive and fast-paced without sacrificing analytical depth. Even those well-versed in the subject should encounter surprises. ... White has created a fantastic and fair-minded account of the first several decades of LGBTQ representation.
