Summary: Jim Crockett, Jr. sold his regional promotion Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling to Turner Broadcasting (which already owned NWA Georgia & NWA Florida) to form the national promotion World Championship Wrestling(WCW). With Turner owning TBS, this offered a national forum for WCW. Enter Clash of the Champions.
