Jimmy has been living in a retirement motor-home community for the last 3 months. He spends his days watching old TV shows with his 71 year old malcontent neighbor Burt.

Depressed Gretchen is hiding from her life and living with Lindsay who actually has a new fulfilling job. No one can find Jimmy. Edgar and Lindsay could be the responsible ones in the group now.

Edgar takes Jimmy on a "man date" in an effort to emotionally bond with him while Gretchen discovers some startling news about the new guy she's seeing. Lindsay attempts to make friends at work.

Gretchen goes home for the birth of her brother's baby, but instead ends up reconnecting with a friend from her past who inadvertently reveals why Jimmy may have left her.

Jimmy goes out of town for a book convention; Gretchen decides to throw a divorce party for Lindsay, leading to an unsuspected visit from Paul; Edgar's friend encourages him to overspend on party planning.

Gretchen becomes a part of a family tradition with Boone and his daughter. Jimmy goes on an NPR game show. Lindsay's desire to help leads her back to Paul. Edgar attempts to make a deeper friendship with Max.

Jimmy and Gretchen go for a long drive to force a conclusion on the confusing state of their relationship. Edgar finds closure with Max while Lindsay figures out a way to solve Becca, Vernon, and Paul's problems all at once.
