It has some issues though whichI enjoyed torna a great deal and would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoyed xenoblade chronicles 2.
It has some issues though which are worth noting. The biggest one is something called 'community'. You can complete sidequests for npcs and then recruit them to your community and if you recruit enough npcs your community level increases.
The issue with this is you will hit a story roadblock and will be unable to complete the game until you reach community level 4. This takes a lot of time... like hours... probably about five hours in my case.
Sidequests vary a great deal. Some of them include some humorous scenes, take you to new locations and feel interesting. Others are simple fetch quests or feel like a hassle as you're required to gain a new ability specifically for that quest.
I think it would have been better if you didn't need to do quite so many sidequests. After I finally got to community level 4 I only had one dungeon and the final boss fight left so that didn't take too much time. Overall though I mostly enjoyed these sidequests so I'm not really complaining. I just think anyone interested in Torna should be aware of this.
Personally I thought the music was very good but not quite as good as xenoblade 2, some of the songs from that game were just mindblowing in my opinion. I also think the characters and story weren't quite as good. However, I did enjoy the story and a lot of the scenes. I think the final battle was also a lot of fun too.
Overall my biggest complaint is probably that I didn't enjoy it as much as Xenoblade 2. For me Xenoblade 2 was a 10 but Torna is still a 9 though. I'm really glad I played it and I really enjoyed my time with it.
I can't wait to see what monolith soft creates next. Personally they're right up there with Atlas and Square Enix for my favorite rpg creators :).… Expand

I played through the first hourI only rank a game with a zero if it's broken to the point of being unplayable... this game is that broken.
I played through the first hour and then it crashed. I loaded it up again and my save data was corrupted.
I started over again and played through up until the final mission.
Now i can't progress because I need to ride a boat. Initially the boat was moving just fine. Then it got stuck. I loaded up my last checkpoint and lost 6 minutes... no big deal. Now the boat won't move forward. It'll turn but literally won't move... I'm completely unable to progress through the final mission even after exiting the game and loading it from the menu.
Outside of these glitches the weapon mechanics aren't exactly great and there are just too many sections where the protagonist is forced to walk or wait for other incredibly slow moving characters.
I enjoyed the first two games much more as they were tense and the linear nature kept things moving smoothly. Exodus looks pretty but is surprisingly quite dull.
I'll update my score if at some point in the future i'm able to move this dumb boat again but odds are i'm done playing this game.… Expand

Personally I enjoyed the story most of all but the gameplay becomes increasingly enjoyable as you make progress. I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys narrative driven open world games in the style of red dead 2.
Framerate dips sometimes while riding the bike
a few visual glitches
surprisingly well written characters
excellent voicework and animation
impressively large horde modes
upgrade system makes your bike handle so much better and you get some great weapons too.… Expand

All three characters feel very different and are so much fun to play, especially Dante.
Visually it's stunning and while the story wasn't incredible it was quite enjoyable.
So far it's one of the best games of 2019 and i'd recommend it to anyone who thinks they might enjoy it.… Expand

Typically I opt for the largest shield possible and a heavy set of armor with a huge sword. Sekiro is not the type of character I typically play through a fromsoftware game with. Initially I found it hard to get into for that reason. Some bosses can just decimate your health if you make a wrong move. There's a huge focus on movement, timing and parrying. There's also a greater importance attached to usable items. Gradually I became addicted though and this game has completely dominated my thoughts.
What also makes Sekiro stand out for me is how visually impressive the world is, the unique and interesting enemies you encounter and how much fun it is to explore each area. It's fascinating to find new paths and follow them as you search for mini bosses, merchants and secrets.
The story is also pretty interesting and it's surprisingly straightforward for a fromsoftware game. I never felt confused about my objective or where I need to go next.
2019 has been a pretty great year already but Sekiro is currently my game of the year. Maybe that'll change but for now I'm just completely blown away by this game,… Expand

Now that Iceborne has been announced I thought I'd give it a second shot and I'm so glad I did. I love the weighty feel of swinging my buster sword and how intense each hunt can feel. Finally taking down the anjanath was just damn fun and really rewarding.
Monster Hunter is now up there with Yakuza in the hall of amazing Japanese games I didn't know much about but now dearly love :).
I can see how someone might pick this up and not get what all the hype is about but if you're patient with its systems it might really surprise you. Happy hunting :).… Expand

I picked it up almost out of obligation but then my best friend moved to another country and I decided to play it to cheer myself up. The characters, the combat and story still blow me away today even though i've beaten it so many times i've lost count. Somehow it helped cheer me up when things feel kind of crappy :).
I'd recommend it to first timers and anyone looking to revisit this classic :).… Expand

The combat is quite fun and allows for a lot of experimentation as you have such a varied cast of characters to choose from. I also found it wasn't too challenging on a low difficulty setting so for me it was easy to just keep playing for long sessions.
The impact of player choice outside of combat is really quite refreshing too. Your decisions affect not only the morale of your clan and the number of supplies they have, but your choices can also lead to unexpected scenarios like a betrayal or the death of a character... and those moments can hit you harder than you expect.
The overall story was very well written and feels surprisingly epic for an indie title. The artwork is really beautiful too and the characters are all quite interesting. I'd highly recommend it if you think this is something you might enjoy :).… Expand

Raiding dungeons and collecting to sell so I can upgrade weapons, armor, the shop and my town... I got completely lost in it.
It's not a perfect game. I think the combat doesn't really stand out and the dungeon bosses aren't that tough, some of them felt easier than regular enemies.
But I found it to be so much fun overall and as I got it on sale for less than twenty bucks... totally worth it. 15 hours well spent :).
Definitely worth a look and I got to say it's one of my top switch indies now.… Expand

The down side though is that the game is quite short and the levels aren't long enough. I would have loved to see the hole mechanics deployed on a larger scale, giving you the chance to swallow buildings and entire cities. The game just never seems to reach a level of insanity I know it's capable of.
Outside of levels there's a decent amount of dialogue taking place between the residents of donut county and it can be humorous but personally I wasn't laughing out loud at any points.
