If you play this game for theBoring, generic, uninspired, dull and lacking in creative vision...and then there's the technical issues.
If you play this game for the first 4 or 5 hours then you might easily be mistaken into being impressed. Visually there is much that is quite stunning, at least superficially, but beyond the smoke and mirrors what finally unveils itself to the player is a shallow, vapid and extraordinarily tedious experience. Customization is weak and limited, weapons are generic and gunplay is functional at best and lacks the power-fantasy feeling that other looter games provide. Then there are the loading screens, bad UI with menus and menus and loading between even basic features as swapping equipment. The central hub is lifeless and tedious to navigate and not a patch on what was shown in earlier gameplay footage and has been severely downgraded.
Missions are generic and have little variance. The story is, quite frankly, laughable and despite what Casey Hudson said about players able to make choices in the game none of them matter. All dialogue options are bland and have zero consequence on the outcome. The loot is actually terrible and does not create any sense of excitement or generate any enthusiasm to continue the pursuit of new gear in the way that looter-shooters must achieve. After 70 hours or so you may easily find that you do NOT even have enough credits or pieces to craft a single masterwork and the desire to continue pounding away on the extremely limited endgame content dissipates as a result.
The game is not finished. There can be no argument otherwise and the fact of the matter is that this has become a practice from publishers that simply cannot be allowed to continue. Releasing bare bones shells of games with a 'roadmap' and a promise to fix it eventually is simply unacceptable. Let us not forget that you are paying FULL price for almost nothing at all...it is not as though they release a quarter of a game and ask you for a quarter of the money. Currently the game deserves no more than a 3/10. It is functional for the most part and parts of it do look very nice but there's nothing there to keep you interested and even if content is added at a later date this game will struggle to recover from it's empty, soulless start.… Expand

There are some gripes to be had with this game for sure, however I do think that it was perhaps slightly underrated in some circles.
If you are the type of player that hammers through a game's storyline then there will be much that you will miss in this game. It will not be for everyone and the gameplay loop has a few issues in terms of pacing and repetitiveness but overall there is a lot of fun to be had. The main issue for me in terms of pacing was that I tend to play games like this a certain way...build up, build up, build up focusing on developing character skills and the means of developing a solid steady income. The problem (if it is one) is that in this game I was at maximum skill level and abilities before leaving the first part of the game. There were lots of vehicles and parts to still unlock but combat-wise, by ignoring the story and building up and completing tons and tons of side missions, salvage locations, encounters and liberating camps and territories, Max was as strong as he was going to get way before reaching the more challenging stuff in the second part.
The open world itself is often spectacular. The design of the camps and many, many of the scavenger locations dotted around the map are incredibly varied although the gameplay involved in taking them over or looting them is less so. This wouldn't be as much of an issue if the game were smaller in scale but there are so many of these locations that some will undoubtedly find them boring at some point.
Driving and car combat is decent. Melee combat can be perhaps slightly more nuanced than mashing counter and attack...although that will get you through the majority of encounters. Yet as Max gains skills and abilities there is a bit more to the combat and fights can result in some pretty satisfying beat downs. However, boss fights are pretty much all the same...get some distance, wait for boss to charge, dodge roll, attack, hit with whatever that boss is weak against, dodge...runaway again and repeat. Every boss can be beaten this way and the only variety later in the game is that some bosses call in a few handfuls of minions to try spice up proceedings a little.
People complain about the story, and I have to wonder if they have seen a Mad Max film because none of them are particularly noteworthy for their narrative. The game starts slow story wise, but by the end you get the Max you are expecting. Having said all that, I enjoyed it quite a bit and definitely got my money's worth out of it. If it had been slightly smaller in scope and slightly more varied and had one or two other minor niggles polished out I might have even gone a bit more than an 8...as it is it's pretty solid at what it does and worth a look if you pick it up on offer.… Expand

Level-gated content has been specifically shoehorned into the game with the sole intent being to leverage extra payments from the player by offering XP boosters that allow you to skip the artificially created tedious grind so that you can continue with the story. When you buy a game you don't expect to have to stop with the main content and fanny around for some considerable period of time doing boring side quests so that you can level up enough to take on the next main story quest....that's bad design and it's been badly designed on purpose.....
Don't buy this crap if you like earlier AC games. This isn't AC anymore it's a cash grab and a piss poor RPG/action game.… Expand

Money is important and you don't get anywhere near enough from gameplay. Serious grinding required to experience the full range of vehicles and weapons unless you want to pay for shortcuts through its insidious micro-transaction system.
The game is Infested with micro-transactions and not worth buying as a result. Yes you can play it without spending extra money but it feels like your being hamstrung from the start without spending more money than you have already paid for the game. Wait until it's a fraction of the price on sale.
Further cash grab, in addition to the micro-transactions in game - Day one DLC and season pass on top of your full price game.

I say game and use the term very looselyDull, boring and tedious doesn't even begin to describe just how mind numbingly bad this 'game' is. I say game and use the term very loosely as it lacks even the most basic aspects of what constitutes an average game. After the first couple of hours or so, entertainment goes rapidly downhill. Lacking in content, boring quests, no character progression of any meaningful kind.

Campaign is still woefully inadequate. Don't buy this if you're expecting some kind of coherent Star Wars narrative...what you get is 4 or 5 hours worth of awfulness....with a promise that more is to come...but where was it in the full price game. You know the GAME that people have already paid for.
And don't forget, the glorified gambling is coming back eventually...but hopefully that'll be a moot point and this diabolical poop-pile of a game will have died by then. Don't buy it or any other of their cynical loot box micro-transaction cancers they pass off as games these days.
