Very addictive game that you will probably really start to get after the 3rd or 4th play-through (not complete of course). Set up your little band of mercenaries and become a legend in a world occupied by orcs, undead and (3) human houses/factions that try to dominate it.
You take sides (with the houses - orcs & undead are not to be negotiated! :-P ), strengthen your group and try to survive. There are various professions and character perks that make your characters unique and you get attached to them. Build them up and keep them alive till then end (or for as long as possible!)

Maybe I was into the game mechanics of the recently played Shadow of War, or this was an AC a little bit different than the previous ones in the series.
But after a while, it all made sense: the map "reading", the quest sorting and solving, the battle-like-a-dancer assassin, the use of weapons and upgrades, the ease of moving around the world with every means available.
I read about loot-boxes and such: have not idea, haven't even clicked the store button and not sure I will. The game gives you any tools necessary to enjoy it without further cost. I am half-way through (level 27) and I have this old familiar feeling of "real life break - it's Ezio's time".

And then I saw the video with the Specter in the haunted house. And gave a try to W3. And got hooked - for good!
It's one of those "Avatar games" I'd call them: you live your normal life and then you press play and get totally lost into their world. A world that treats you like the hero and mutant, like the savior or worst nightmare. A world that your choices change the course of the story and the way things are done.
Great balance of storytelling, fighting, crafting, questing... You can get as much or as little from the game as you wish - however I assure you that you will often find yourselves galloping like crazy from one question mark to the other to get the area cleared (usually at +02:00 am).
...and the card game rocks (although my initial thought was "No time for that crap...")
Bottom line: must buy - maybe one of the top 3 games of the year!… Expand

Average User Score: 4.9Feb 7, 2013This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Now let's see... You got a great theme (for all Mafia/ prohibition lovers out there), descent battle choice (turn-based at last!) and an expectation that the mix won't fail you (as the price is high). Unfortunately the game feels unfinished... My main concerns lay in the absolutely lack of info/report regarding what your premises produce (in terms of "products" and like/fear rating) or what your joints or construction sites sell (again for both aspects). You should also be able to see the benefits received by upgraded buildings in this report. The battle is nice but missed shots when you are literally next to an enemy is a fail... As the game has something that gets me hooked and wanna finish it, I will not bury it but I'd suggest the developer to implement the changes (that I am sure had in mind but not the time to implement) and give content free of charge to all those that bought the game at full price. A re-pricing at 15-19 is mandatory and please add the option to be able to chat with your opponent/ co-player!… Expand

And the truth is I agree with both points of view. You will notice either near-10 and near-0 scores, which is absolutely normal. For the guys expected to play the Xcom of the past with newly made graphics, I confirm this is not the case. For those judging the game as an effort to "translate" the concept with today's means and way the gamer has evolved (with all the pros and cons that this involves), I agree with your high scores.
To make a long story, short this is Xcom, with upgraded graphics and gameplay that (unfortunately) is not encountered today. Only the fact that a game focused on turn-based, non-10 year old-maniac-clicking way of playing deserves respect and should be supported if we want to see similar efforts in the future. This game is a proof that you can get gaming-satisfaction for using your head instead of your reflexes (and believe me, after 25 years of gaming, your reflexes are significantly reduced!), so a solid BRAVO with the relevant score by yours truly ;-)… Expand

Choose the way in, the way (to take) out and even the hardware you character wishes to use in his missions. Great RPG elements and decision making that changes the plot. Awesome hacking mini game and abilities that (if chosen) are depicted graphically during the gameplay (i.e. when you choose the "See through walls" augmentation or the one that makes you jump from a distance. Not sure if the hard core Rambo players around will like it but I absolutely loved it as a small "tour" inside the venting corridors of my game, you will find stunned bodies... I liked the Sims idea some but hated playing at the end as I always, ended up making a character that looked like me, had a family, a job (constantly trying to promote), having to take care of things around the house and paying bills and never having actual time of my own (in between fulfilling personal needs and trying to be nice and social)... I got my life for that! Didn't need a simulation!!!
But this was a nice change, that enables you to bring to life all the fairy-tale, fantasy and medieval characters you wanted, decorated with nice ambitions and achievements and the level of customization exactly to my liking!

I always thinkWell, I have been reading the (above) reviews and have to admit that it is impressive how many below 3s and above 7s you find. I always think that everyone is entitled of their opinion, which I totally respect even if I disagree. To my humble opinion, the game rates low by hard core WWII fans or MMO gamers. I read above that it takes 3 months to get a tier 8 tank... Well, I play for 5 months now and only been to tier 6. I guess I am a casual gamer myself... However, I LOVED the game. I stick to the tanks I like and I am not obsessed by reaching Tier 10 anytime soon. I simply do not care. I love each and every tank I own, even created a "bond" with the crew (as you can transfer them from one tank to another)! I lose some battles, win some others, get destroyed and destroy others. I strongly believe that there is a huge research project behind its development and every single detail is thought of. Ok, you might have some balancing issues but what can you do? Enjoy the time you spend playing people! I have spent some money and I think it totally worth it... Don't get me started with all the AAA titles that I have purchased and spent 0 time with them... To my point of view, get a Tier 2 tank (it's free) stick with that alone, find your preferred tank type (Light, Medium, Heavy, Tank Destroyer or SPG) and follow each one's path slowly enjoying all the way. After all it is the journey that matters and not the destination ;-)… Expand
