The Fall Guy is hugely entertaining. A love letter to stunt persons and to filmmaking in general, the film is a romantic comedy for everyone who hates romantic comedies and an action thriller for those less than keen on the genre.
This is a ridiculously fun movie, anchored by a movie star in a part that fits him perfectly and a director who really has been working toward this film for his entire career.
The Fall Guy is a delight from start to finish, thanks to a sparkling script, thrilling action sequences and to-die-for comic chemistry between the two leads.
At 126 minutes, The Fall Guy overstays its welcome for a bit, but the stunts, the comedy, and the spark between the film’s dynamic leads make the movie a delectable kick-off to the popcorn pleasures of the summer-movie season.
Working with a script from Drew Pearce (“Hobbs & Shaw”), Leitch packs the film with wall-to-wall action, in both the film’s movie sets and its real world. And with the self-referential humor, the industry jokes and the promise of a little romance, it feels like one of those movies we all complain they don’t make anymore.
The latest jacked up, action extravaganza from stunt man turned director David Leitch (his last film, the not-very-good Bullet Train, is still leagues ahead of this movie in terms of imagination and execution), teems with contempt for the audience it is desperate to win over.
The Fall Guy is nothing but pure **** writing is not always great, but the actors elevate it whenever the script fails to deliver. The action is amazing except for one secene where they used some strange effects. The acting performances are just great. Ryan Gosling is at his **** movie is shot very well. The camere movements are dynamic, which elevates the excitement. The film is also well paced and the stunts are **** characters and the story is not a big deal, but most of the jokes deliver. It's not the best movie of the year, but my personal favourite so far. We need more movies like this, movies that give you positive energy, that are just pure fun.
Dozed off several times because there were some pretty boring, unfunny moments. Strange film, but it wasn't bad.
Getting real sick of all the dumb director/actor messages before the movie starts. It's completely unnecessary
The Fall Guy fell down right from the scene one and never tried to get back up till the final scene.
Positives:
- Good twists in the story
Negatives:
- Emily Blunt's acting looked very artificial
- Slow pacing
- Story driven by the scenes but not the other way around
The good reviews you may have read were probably bought and paid for by the studios. This movie was abysmally bad. It's stupid, not funny and not worth the price of a movie ticket - if you have AMC Stubs or MoviePass, then it's not worth the drive or the soda/popcorn cost. If you MUST see it, wait til it's streaming for free.
