All in all World of Tanks even with some of its minor annoyances is a very addictive game and a solid addition to worthwhile gaming. World of Tanks is great because it can be played in small doses or just jump into one battle after another. Check it out now Look up World of Tanks on the web and have a go!
It might be a little cruel to pick apart World of Tanks like this while it's still in beta, but Wargaming.net is nevertheless charging people for a boxed copy. Still, the game is progressing well and constantly seeing new maps and new tanks added, with a whole slew of French units soon to be released.
Playing World of Tanks without spending a penny it's impossible but it looks like, for the price of a full game, you will guarantee yourself months of blitzkrieg like you never had before.
The ground it treads is hardly innovative, and the grind is intolerable. Clan play helps to skirt these issues, but in general, World of Tanks is a dull slog to be enjoyed solely between rounds of other, more interesting games. Vision slit.
I'll be honnest, many players here give a 0 because they are malding, but mine will be objective unlicke those which are just crying because they are **** players.
Firstly : this is a tank team play game 15vs15 which requires A LOT of knowledge & good decisions and it also requires a bit of skills. The game is competitive and has 25% of RNG for hitting, penetrating and damage dealt (I know, RNG & competitive shouldn't fit in the same sentence but I'll come back to it later). Also it's an ARCADE game and NOT a realistic game, there are many tanks which existed, but mostly it's tanks which only got designed or sometimes which got completly created by Wargaming.
So what does this game offer (for positive stuff) : amazing concept & gameplay, good tank designs (esthetic and gameplay), mostly in clan format it's a great team game, this game rewards great knowledge, initiative taking and a bit the skill.
Now what is bad (the biggest part, but it's because I need to explain the reason) : This game has RNG (yet it's a competitive game I know, it's not E-Sport though, cuz of RNG) (25% of RNG, so getting unlucky may be truely punishing), though you can FOR SURE see which player is good, bad, mid, great or horrible be looking at their overall stats, post game stats and the way they are playing. So yes, there is RNG, but it's clearcly NOT only RNG, you still get rewarded for making good decisions (the difference between good and bad players is already huge, so having no RNG would mean that the gap would be even bigger, so RNG here is not THAT bad).
Premium tanks can be PTW (though the game is mostly pay to progress, and be aware that it likes A LOT to make you want to spend money), premium tanks are from Tier 2 to Tier 9 (there are 10 Tiers in WoT, T10 being the strongest tanks of course). I dunno know about Tier 4 and lower (since these tiers are absolutely not important). But for other tiers I know, there are OP premium tanks from Tier 5 up to Tier 8 (Tier 9 tanks are not OP at all, for now at least), premium tanks have the feature to make more credits and other stuff as well, but there are so much of those that overall the tanks which are the most OP are premium tank, and when Wargaming decides to add a new tech tree of tanks (free tanks), they always make sure to add a Tier 8 premium tank which is similar to the tech tree and which is stronger than the Tier 8 standard tank from the tech tree.
To make you aware of how much it impacts the game, here are the Tiers from most important to less important : 10, 8, 9, 6, 7, 5, 4, 3, 1, 2. So at least the most important Tier is untouched (it's the tier which I play the most). Though if you want to make credits, you can't with high Tier standard tanks, only with lower Tiers or premium tanks (mostly T8 premium tanks, that's why it's the second most important Tier).
Though you for sure can make credits with Tier 8 standard tanks in clan format (which is great format btw, teamplay is lovely in clan format).
Also you CAN get T8 tanks FOR FREE, "for free" I mean for your time spent, so you can buy some in-game in the Bond Shop (bonds are a type of money which can NOT be bought by real money, only by plying T10 or completing missions & mission events). Even though these aren't the strongest for sure, some are still decent (T26E5 P (godlike credit maker btw), AMX M4 49, Guard, T-103, etc.).
Then you can make credits and play T10 without drawbacks.
Also Match Making is bad, unbalanced, games are too quick (a game should be like 8 minutes, but nowadays you will get a lot of 4-5 minutes games & 15-3 scores.
I should that there are artilleries in the game which are SUPER toxic & cancer class, you're **** & stunning (horrible mecanin) on ennemies from the other side of the map, hugging the redline (border), not even using the keyboard, just mousing and jer*ing off with the other hand while watching TV, and then you cosplay a submarine when you loose and ennemies get near you, so they don't get the "kill" and the "damage" on you.
Ah, also community is toxic, truely, even I ame toxic, so be prepared if you want to play this game, or disable in-game chat & private messages from non-friends (though disabling in-game chat can be punishing to receive information).
Now to conclude : if you're looking for team online game, competitive, which has RNG but clearcly not enough to make a good and a bad player doing same score (very far away even, like there is a huge gap), which has tanks cuz you're a **** for tanks, which got clan games with a stratege, and then of course true strategies, which is an arcade game and don't care for realism then this game is FOR SURE for you, even if you don't identify yourself in some of these points you'll still like this game. But if most of these points is not what you like, forget about this game.
Overall, it's a truely good game, but it's not for everyone, 7/10.

Tbh the gameplay kinda ****. It's basically counerstrike with tanks. You spawn in and choose one of the 2 to 3 paths that guide you to the enemy. Once you find him you engage in a slap competition, where you poke around your corner and hit your enemy and he hits you back. It's the most braindead gameplay you can imagine. Yes moments like this will happen in any tank game, but here it is 95 % of the engagements you can't go around, the maps are too small for that. Also who the hell created this vision mechanic? The enemy can be right in front of you, you can have clear vision on his position, but you still don't see him.
