It is, if you’ll pardon the pun, an absolute blast. Goggins is wonderful as both the unsullied golden boy Cooper and the wretched Ghoul, Moten brings such nuance to what could easily be a one-note role and Purnell performs Lucy’s fall from innocence brilliantly.
For the most part, though, the Ghoul and his cohorts engage in giddily indulgent shootouts that one-up Isaac Newton: For every action, there’s an opposite reaction that’s not just equal, but bafflingly more violent.

You don’t need to have played the games, or lived through the Cold War, to appreciate Fallout as a television experience. When the final scene teased the location of what looks to be Season 2, the gamer in me cheered—I know exactly where they’re going. The television viewer in me rejoiced, as well. Another season? Okie dokey!
Fallout expands on the big ideas of the games, making it an adaptation worth watching both for fans and those unfamiliar. It’s an equal parts funny and nightmarish show that, like its protagonist, isn’t content to live inside a projection of the past.
Its final episodes feature several exciting twists and reveals that reshape our understanding of the story we've been watching for eight episodes — but there's little real resolution to any of the ongoing character arcs, and in some ways this all feels like lead-up to a more thorough and philosophically complex Season 2.
As Season 1 concludes, there’s less a sense of anticipation for what comes next than general relief that this somewhat messy introduction, and the contortions to incorporate its eclectic roster of players, is over.
Fallout amounts to its Vault Boy concept art—the Monopoly-aesthetic-looking smiley thumbs-up character the game is famous for— with blood splattered on top of the colorful image as if that ironic disparity is meant to be enough. It’s not. Fallout may look the part and nail the video game’s cheery optimism/dog-eat-dog inhumanity mein, but by its umpteenth attempt at making this funny—Glen Miller big band cliches overtop of a transmogrified giant fish trying to eat a young squire!—you want this one trick mutated pony to die a quick and painful death already.

This was pretty weird and disjointed. It was sometimes hard to follow with the time changes to show us past events. Not sure how some lived 200 years or whether 200 years was just propaganda. The show was also a bit gruesome. So, our view is: "okay to watch but get your strong stomach going and your dizziness under control."

It’s like a well-funded B-movie with excellent source material. The plot is great. Some of the direction, CGI and acting is really bad. I think you can tell which ideas were thought up in a board room and then forced into the story to placate an executive. Unfortunate. But if that is what it takes to see fallout played out somewhat-respectably on screen then so be it. Walton Goggins elevates this, Mulan distracts, and the slow motion fight scenes to 40s music gets tiresome the third or fourth time you see it.

This show is a joke. It can’t decide if it wants to be taken seriously or as a comedy. The action scenes would make Snyder cream for days - constant and excessive slow mo, nothing important happening. It would’ve been great if the story focused on the ghoul as a western or something he’s by far the best character in this series. Everything with the vault was embarrassing. There aren’t very many creatures and the wasteland doesn’t really feel dangerous at all. Hardly any of the performances have any weight or feeling behind them. BOS are a joke and run away from confrontation. The story is nonsense and boring. It’s a bad show and it’s baffling that people like this garbage but that’s the state of entertainment I guess ♂️
