3D Ecco the Dolphin is definitely a fun and unique game, even by today's standards, although it is clearly dated in some aspects. This version of the game is probably the definitive one, especially due to the inclusion of a saving feature, which makes this the best chance to date to experience the game at an affordable price.

M2 has once again done a good service of restoration of a Mega Drive classic, but this is one of those games that does not gives balance to the original values of the product.
  3. Few 2D games have this much atmosphere, but Ecco's unforgiving gameplay hasn't aged well, unfortunately. [Feb 2014, p.90]
