if you're a hardcore shin megami fan, then chances are you've already bought this game (like me). but i was disappointed, the story isn't interesting, the characters are flat and the gameplay is frustrating because you can't really control your demons, they have an a.i. and their very annoying most of the time. they have a specific ai that lets them do specific moves. i gave up halfwayif you're a hardcore shin megami fan, then chances are you've already bought this game (like me). but i was disappointed, the story isn't interesting, the characters are flat and the gameplay is frustrating because you can't really control your demons, they have an a.i. and their very annoying most of the time. they have a specific ai that lets them do specific moves. i gave up halfway through the game and i'm going to start smt 4 or pokemon conquest instead. The dungeon visuals are flat and drab, the demon loyalty system is a pain, Magnetite is just an annoyance, demon fusion limits inherited skills, Zoma fusion is also a pain, heck, most of the mechanics are just a pain in the neck. It's an alright game, but it's definitely the worst MegaTen game I've played. Only get it if you like the series in general.

Quite a difficult game, but it still has it charms. However, it feels outdated – it came out in Japan in 1997 – and it can overcome that fact. The voice acting is really magnificent in this game, but that’s one of those spare pros.

Fans of retro JRPGs will find a lot to like in a game that at its core is quite traditional despite the unusual atmosphere and complex gameplay mechanics.
