Aug 25, 2011First off, this is an amazing game, regardless of the fact that it doesn't have any 3D save for the opening sequence and demon fusing. If you're a fan of tactical RPGs like Final Fantasy Tactics or Fire Emblem, I highly recommend it. The game lasts several hours, it took me well over 60 on my first playthrough on the DS version. There are many positives that come with this game, even if you bought the original. There are 20 more demons for a combined 150 demons, a full voice cast which, while people say it isn't good, I thoroughly enjoyed how clear it all sounded, and an added 8th Day which is more then an epilogue. If you're a JRPG fan and own a 3DS, this is a must buy.… Full Review »
Aug 24, 2011This game is not in 3D! There is a great 3D animated intro, but after that the game pretty much takes place on the bottom screen. I am a huge Shin Megami fan, and skipped the DS version of Devil Survivor, so the new version was one of the reasons I bought a 3DS. The game itself plays like all the other SMT games, collecting/fusing demons, with the added element of grid based srpg battles where when you do face your enemy, the battle plays out like any other SMT game. The game itself is on par with the other SMT games, and more animated than Strange Journey, so if 3D is no big deal and you just need a good jrpg, you will be very happy with this title.
The biggest disappointment is that this is a remake of a game that just came out a couple years ago, on a new system that is selling itself on new technology (3D), and wasn't remade to take advantage of that technology. Ghost Recon did an amazing job of taking the standard SRPG grid and turning it into 3D eye candy and that was a launch game! This game was delayed a few months after the original release date, so I was at least expecting something similar. This is the most disappointed I've been with Atlus ever.… Full Review »
Dec 29, 2011This game is not in 3D. Now that I've gotten that out of the way, this is also one of the best games on the system, even though it is a remake. You take the original game, which was great by itself, add in various prologues for whatever ending you achieved in the game, add in some hit or miss voice acting with some recognizable anime people, and you've got a good remake of a great game. If you already played the original to death then you won't enjoy this. There's not enough to warrant buying the game again. However anyone new the game, like I was, would be a fool to pass this one up. As long as you know what your getting into before you buy this game, fans of the series and of RPG's will enjoy this game immensely, even if there isn't any 3D beyond the intro cinematic when you start up the game. You won't be let down if you do that.… Full Review »
