Assassin's Creed Mirage is an excellent homage to the past and a well-realized title in its own merits. Evoking elements that made the franchise a huge success and marrying them with several of the improvements made in recent games, it is a great game and it has a beautiful approach to telling the story of one of the most intriguing characters in the franchise: Basim.
Mirage does everything correct: creating a great atmosphere, makes you immerse in history, returns the exciting stealth gameplay, and most importantly, it doesn’t overwhelm like last previous titles.
Mirage is more of a tribute that a return to the classics, but the setting, the level design and the reasonable length are welcome changes to make Assassin’s Creed more enjoyable for the fans of the first games.
If you're a long-time Assassin's Creed fan that fondly remembers the early entries of the series, you're likely to love Assassin's Creed Mirage. Those who have found the last trio of entries simply too big will appreciate its sharper focus, too. While it does little to propel the series forward mechanically, it's a return to what made it stand out in the first place: an open world stealth game where hiding in plain sight and making use of your parkour skills is key. Factor in the brilliant setting and some challenging assassination scenarios, and you have a game that pays homage to the series' roots while successfully standing on its own two feet.
Assassin's Creed Mirage recalls the chapters of the "pre role-playing" era with a certain effectiveness, with a system of notoriety that pushes you to return to anonymity with the means at Basim's disposal. Between the pleasant exploration of Baghdad - well characterized and equipped with the right amount of secondary activities - and interesting main missions, at least as regards level design and approach methods, Ubisoft Bordeaux has created a valid and fun experience, but not without quality problems and fluctuations. The problems related mostly to the martial choreography of the battles are accompanied by a narrative segment that is not as incisive as we hoped and stealth phases impoverished by unrefined enemy AI and offensive solutions that are all too effective.
Assassin's Creed Mirage sets off in search of its roots, and it finds them — both for better and worse. Undeniably basic in its approach to stealth and combat, it feels oddly dated in terms of design, but it's also a refreshing reminder of the series' original strengths. Ultimately, it's a solid sandbox title, and it successfully scratches the hidden blade itch that was so clearly absent in Odyssey and Valhalla.
I absolutely loved this game and did 100% progression on it. The length of the story and amount of gameplay hours needed for 100% were spot on 33h44m - just enough to keep me hooked but not get bored, which sometimes happens with games that take up to 100h to complete.
The city of Baghdad looks amazing and I loved exploring it, as it's always the case for me when I play AC games - the way they recreate the feeling of the era.
The story is OK, though sometimes light along the way, but I really enjoyed the ending and I think it was definitely worth reaching, quite rewarding.
I liked the simplified "return to basics" formula of AC Mirage and I do hope we see more like this in the future.
This is a solid game. I loved exploring Baghdad and the game doesn't outstay its welcome. Nothing is bloated, the mechanics are solid, and the missions are varied and fun.
just got through the gameand these are my honest thoughts - the in game world looks amazing, environments feel alive and bustlingwith NPCs, the soundtrack and overall sounds are also very lovely and add to the liveliness of the environment of the game, BUT that’s about it. this game is so painfully dull that at one point i found myself completely numbed out to everything going on around me in the game world. the story is genuinely one of the dullest and most boring experiences i’ve ever had in a game. the combat is stiff and slow, at times feels unresponsive. the writing of the dialogue feels lifeless and the voice acting is definetly in my top 10 worst of all time list. it feels that the voice actors just got the check and put in their lines for the hell of it, purely because of the fact that the check was devent enough. extremely emotionless voice acting, void of any sense of realism, which, in turn, makes the characters seem extremely boring and uninspiring. stealth works, but again, only when the game wants it to work. the“leveling” system is a joke, you genuinely feel like you make no progress in the game. and again, the story is so all over the place and poorly written, that i genuinely couldn’t find myself to care even at the slightest for what is was about. i wholeheartledly could NOT give a resumé about the story, just because it’s so boring and dull. the only character that feels like they have any reasoning and that you will have a genuine connection to is Basim. everyone else is just hogging up screen time and spouting boring dialogue about nothing.
all in all, you have a good looking game, minus all the fun that the previous titles had. just a dull, boring, uninspiring, emotionless, slow, and possibly one of the weakest and senseless filler games, that genuinely did NOT need to exist.
Combat 3/10
Parkour 2/10
Stealth 3,5-4/10
The game is overall clunky, buggy, unfunny and frustrating. Its even worse than the typical woke ubisoft bs. I cant believe this comes from an AAA developer. I hope ubisoft as a company dies.
