Most console wrestling fans are used to more depth and control in their games, and this arcade title only skims the surface.
  2. Offers solid arcade gameplay, but it lacks the depth of the made-for-console wrestling games.
  3. The lack of anything more in-depth, such as a career mode, severely cuts the replay value of Royal Rumble.
  4. This game could be worth a rental though as by the time the rental is up, you will probably have gotten all you can from the game.
  5. One glaring problem made even more apparent by the Royal Rumble match is the game's character selection, or lack of.
  6. The sound effects -- while a little drab -- get the job done, but the buzzer that signifies a new wrestler entering the ring in the royal rumble mode will drive you absolutely insane with its frequency.
  7. With very well-done graphics and a decent amount of gameplay, "Royal Rumble" is an overall chaotic game that provides some intense arcade gameplay.
  8. With a lack of a 'create-a-wrestler' mode and many aspects of the WWF world missing, wrestling fanatics may want to rent this title first.
  9. WWF Royal Rumble will appeal more to those who remember those great old arcade WWF games than the more recent offerings.
  10. Frantically pounding buttons just to win a grapple is not my idea of fun.
  11. With the small roster and lack of modes, this one is probably best as a rental and not a purchase, but it is a good way to waste away a weekend.

If only there was a more balanced approach to the punch-grapple system, and more characters, and a better way to handle the "partner" feature, and let's face it... an improvement on everything else, then "fun" might have actually found a way to sneak itself in here.
