  • Summary: Developed by Amaze Entertainment, Spyro Shadow Legacy – for the first time – introduces magical powers, role playing game elements, and martial arts fighting to the beloved Spyro gameplay. Spyro Shadow Legacy introduces role playing elements to the Dragon Realms, offering Spyro fans an "RPG RPG light" experience with all new gameplay features. By fighting and defeating creatures in the game, players earn experience points that improve Spyro’s strength and abilities. This RPG element allows players to use their experience to build Spyro’s new magical powers and martial arts combat abilities as the game progresses. The game leverages all of the technical innovations of the Nintendo DS, including dual screen, touch screen, wireless capabilities and 3D graphics. With touch screen controls, players can draw symbols to cast spells or use the second screen as an overhead map. Players can utilize the Nintendo DS wireless capabilities to trade collectible creatures with other players nearby. [Vivendi Universal] Collapse

  1. The biggest problem with this game is, once again, that it really doesn’t offer anything to set it apart.
  2. It is entertaining, it is appealing, it is addictive, and it is worthy of your time. In short, it’s solid and accessible fun, and in today’s often-dreary marketplace, that’s no bad thing.
  3. A wholly average game that young kids will enjoy for a short time, but there’s really nothing much here for anyone else.
  4. Spyro would score a 5 were it to work properly - smack bang in the middle of middlyness, doing nothing well, and utterly without imagination (for goodness sakes, travelling back and forth between two versions of reality - where did they get that idea from?!).

It's a fun game, adding RPG elements to Spyro. However, the graphics are not quite up to the DS' capabilities except during boss battles. The controls are a bit annoying because Spyro was designed for joysticks, not directional pads. The lack of voices is a disappointment, as voices have been possible since the GBA. Otherwise, it's a fun and challenging game. They just could've done better on the graphics, added voices instead of using text, and made the controls easier. The touchpen capabilities are nice. You have the whole options menu on the touchscreen while you move around on the topscreen. Expand

Not the Spyro games we are used to at all... controls get confusing when same key is used for several different commands, instructions are given only once and are not repeated at all and do not give you any idea what you can do, leveling up and having to keep "teleporting" to get new "attacks" gets tiring, as does the switching back and forth between "phases"... We want the old Spyro back... this one is not impressive. Expand

I love Spyro games.... well, I *used* to love them when Insomniac made them. This version was my first DS game that I played... and with a mix of confusing controls, confusing environments, confusing sense of depth, and a mediocre story, I just couldn't give support for this game... it left me very much confused in the end. This Game is not how a spyro game should be. It is confusing, repetitive, has bad graphics, and glitchy. It is sort of fun if you can figure out what you are doing but I would not Reccommend it. Expand
