The main game is empty, the multiplayer is fun but shallow, the graphics are weak and including so few vehicle types and combat options gives the game a very narrow focus.
  2. Tank Beat isn't much fun. There's very little to it, and what is there is bland, and simplistic. If there's one feat developer MileStone managed to pull off, it's how dull it managed to make the act of blowing up tanks. That might be a fascinating accomplishment, but it makes for an utter bore of a game.
  3. There is nothing in this game that represents fun. I hate to say that, but when all the members of the house give it a try and no one could say anything good about it, well, that just seals the deal.
  4. The game needed a lot more time in development and it never got that opportunity to mature.
  5. Anyone who's played a tank simulation before will find this to be a pretty simple game because there isn't much to control, and it can become repetitive rather quickly.
  6. As the Story Mode can be cleared in a couple of hours you're left to find fun in one of the game's simple multiplayer modes (download play or Wi-Fi) but these do little to enliven the repetitive and staccato move, stop, point, shoot, flow of play leaving a meagre and shallow title that's difficult to recommend.
  7. When compared to a game released in 1977 that was really only one step more complex than Pong, Tank Beat got… beat.
  8. You'd think slamming shells the size of watermelons into heavily armed rolling metal fortresses would be hard to botch, but Tank Beat digs a design rut too deep for even the most ardent artillery lover to climb out of.
  9. It's a cleverly designed game that could use a bit more polish.

The control scheme is impressive, the multi-player mode is entertaining and the mission structure is solid, but the visuals and audio presentation really could have used a bit of work; plus the game is simply too short.
  11. A powerhouse at multiplayer, a pinto at single player, if you have a group of friends or the patience to wait for the online players, this is a must have.
  12. A more accurate name would have been Tank Crap.
