Critic score distribution:
  1. Positive: 2 out of 8
  2. Negative: 4 out of 8
  1. As loveable as Greg Rusedski's haircut. [June 2006, p.78]
  2. Top Spin 2 is a title that impresses beyond our expectations on the DS. PAM may have had a tough time on the 360 and making a truly next gen game, but in terms of handheld, they have created the best tennis game available for portable systems. It may not innovate that much compared to the other two TS games, but it does what it set out to do well, and that’s what matters most.
  3. A rewarding, challenging and compelling sim, but once you come off the grass, it can be as punishingly serious and uncharismatic as an Andrew Murray interview. [May 2006, p.45]
  4. The action feels downright sluggish at times. [Feb 2005, p.102]
  5. Top Spin 2 could have been so much more; instead of just going down the 2D route they tried too hard and ruined what could have been a great game.
  6. 40
The frame-rate is borderline unbearable, and what could have been a solid DS tennis title turned into one of the better examples of why not to use 3D on Nintendo’s newest handheld.
  7. 40
Top Spin 2 does have some minor accomplishments to its credit, but it all comes crashing down due to the flawed gameplay experience and lacking overall features.
  8. Top Spin 2 for the DS offers a good player roster and a deep shot system, but the choppy graphics render the game unplayable.
