83If you havent played this game, you need to. The game featured big tracks, jumps, engine heat, and a track editor. The only downfall was you couldnt save tracks the GBA fixes this.
-
80Tons of people used to play this game in the arcade. It was cool then, and this version is the same, only smaller...and with a track designer. [Sept 2004, p.93]
-
75Though the game's pulled off really well in the Famicom Mini version, the game has already been available twice on the GBA...so the air's been let out of the tires just a bit. It's still a worthy and amazingly fun addition to the classic collection.
-
70It's not bad, but it doesn't quite have the same charm that it did when I was ten years old.
-
70Its not the prettiest, nor the best sounding game around, far from it, but the gameplay gives it a heart and soul a lot of technically superior games can only dream of, making Excitebike relevant all these years after its original release.
-
70Pure, unadulterated, giggle yourself senseless fun. [Summer 2004, p.15]
-
62A solid trip down memory lane for fans of the original NES game. But is that trip worth $20? Probably not. If Excitebike had been part of a larger compilation of NES classics, it would be much more welcome.
-
60Undeniably dated and simple, and the action is a bit plodding and straightforward. Fortunately, the underlying gameplay is good enough that it won't betray the fond nostalgia of older fans.
-
The track-design feature allows you to create your own racing environment. [July 2004, p.121]
-
58Its dated graphics and extremely simplistic gameplay will leave new players puzzled as to why so many people like the game.
-
The custom course editor is still a highlight, and better yet, now you can even save your courses. [Aug 2004, p.61]
-
Virtually every motocross game released for the GBA in the last three years is better than this one.
