  • Summary: She's battled baddies on nearly every Nintendo system, and now, Samus Aran returns to her roots. Metroid: Zero Mission relives the story that started it all--revealing for the first time full details of her meeting with the Metroids. The plotline will be familiar to longtime fans of the Metroid series, but the challenges are new, the power-ups are plentiful, and the graphics and sound are supercharged. Plus, if you thought that the original Metroid had a surprise ending, wait until you get past the Mother Brain in Metroid: Zero Mission. A new twist provides a deeper adventure than ever before. While not without its minor shortcomings, Metroid: Zero Mission is damn enjoyable and perfect for blasting space pirates on the go.
  2. 100
Rarely does a game (much less a GBA one) keep the player so constantly surprised. [Mar 2004, p.75]
  3. 100
In the end, Metroid: Zero Mission is not just a new snapshot of where the series began; it is a panorama of where the series has gone over the last two decades. By combining elements from several Metroid installments, Zero Mission unifies the overarching story of Samus Aran and sheds new light on her unusual childhood.
  4. Buy--don't rent this game as it is one to keep in your library and show off to future generations.

  1. A true masterpiece of 2D gaming. For me, this is the best Metroid game in existance. The balance and refinement of the gameplay is at it's zenith for the series. It just cannot be improved upon. The difficulty, the sense of exploration with just the right amount of guidence, the controls, the graphics.... Perfect! Expand
  2. The graphics of Metroid: Zero Mission stands on its own and reminds me of the graphics of the Super Metroid. Everything in the game from the controls to the music are classic. It's a must have for Game Boy advance owners who are Metroid fans. Expand

Metroid: Zero Mission, while it lasts, is the most fun and engaging of all the 2D Metroid titles. The gameplay has been tuned and refined to near-perfection. Samus controls smoothly, and any missteps that may occur are almost always entirely the fault of the player. Graphics, likewise, are the best of all the 2D Metroids thus far. Ditto sound. The environment, as with all Metroids, is riddled with countless secret passages and hidden items, and some of them will elude all but the most skilled players. So why only an 8? Well, two reasons. First, the game's level of difficulty is just too damn easy on Normal mode, whilst being almost too difficult on Hard mode. Secondly, it's just too short. The game's at least as big as Super Metroid (Metroid III), but Samus' movement speed has been cranked up so much that it actually takes less time to get from one end of the world to the other. -- To sum up; Metroid: Zero Mission is a great retelling of Samus' early days, a worthy successor to Metroid III, and a captivating adventure in its own right. It's just a terrible shame that it's so short. Expand
  4. Zero Missions es un spin-off bastante bueno. Fue una combinación de elementos nuevos muy interesantes dentro de la saga, pero es muy corto y uno se queda con ganas de mucho mas. Expand
