  1. A beautiful game. There is enough eye candy to keep you entertained for a few hours, but the awkward gameplay overshadows the looks.
  2. More than just a technical marvel--it is a thoroughly enjoyable experience, albeit with a few shortcomings.
  3. Works as a quick diversion, but I had no desire to put in much time with it. [July 2002, p.93]
  4. It's highly recommended for anyone who loves space shooters or Airwings. [July 2002, p.151]
  5. It's marred by some shoddy controls and these are exasperated in the later levels because you require precise, accurate ones to finish levels.
  6. Star X had a lot of promise – the game opened up superbly. But as the game went on – with twenty-three levels in all, I just didn’t feel like going on.
  7. The poor graphics and lack of save weigh down this game considerably.

The game they built around this engine is terrible.
  9. The most serious problems in Star X lie with its controls. The ship's movements are limited due to poor button configuration.
