  • Summary: In Ribbit King, the fate of the planet rests on your ability to get frogs into holes. This is the game of Frolf, and, as Scooter, you must play it across 20 different courses on five different worlds. Power supplies are running out, and to save them, you must win the coveted Super Ribbinite. Choose from 13 odd characters and more than 10 frogs to collect items and points through Frolfing matches. Become the Frolfing Champion in Story mode or Versus mode, which supports up to four players. Expand

  1. If you liked "Mario Golf," you'll love Ribbit King. There's not much depth, but there's more than enough charm and fun to make it worth your twenty bucks.
  2. It may not be a technical marvel or something that will keep you occupied for days on end (it's best played in 30-minute bursts, in my opinion), but it's hard to deny the energy and enthusiasm the game brings with its off-kilter PaRappa-style characters, a kooky sense of humor, and the welcoming playability that developer Jamworks has packed onto the disc.
  3. Seriously silly. [Aug 2004, p.122]

It would be nice if it were a little deeper or offered a few more ways to play, but we’d recommend anyone looking for some light and wacky sports action to look no further than Ribbit King.
  5. Both a unique and amusing game, but not everyone is up for the amount of time it takes to actually complete a game.
  6. But after a while, hitting frogs just doesn't fufill the same amount of happiness that it did when you started.
  7. So we’ve got a pretty original concept, executed in a completely uninspired and unoriginal way.

I picked up this game for only a few dollars, years ago. It was sort of a last-minute gift, kind of a throwaway to tack onto another, larger gift. After learning that the recipient thoroughly enjoyed it, I decided I had to give it a shot.

It's great! The gameplay is straightforward and satisfying, and everything about the presentation is, for lack of a better term, adorable.

The single player experience isn't particularly extensive, but everybody knows that with a game like this it's all about the multiplayer. It's easy to play round after round of this game with a couple friends.

It's probably quite cheap by now, so I recommend it if you happen across it!
