The new Angry Birds gives a fresh take on the IP with a great use of the Star Wars license.

It is a great addition to the Angry Birds universe, giving you more of what you had before whilst feeling fresh enough to warrant the small expenditure. And the best part is this: There's not a bloody Jar Jar Binks in sight. Splendid.

Angry Birds and Angry Birds Space may be great on their own, but combine the two and you get Angry Birds Star Wars, a great tie-in that learns from the mistakes of the past to make something wonderful.

Overall, Angry Birds Star Wars is like a "best of" album for the series, combining terrestrial and space levels with fun character abilities all wrapped in a delightful Star Wars shell.

I've played through all of the Angry Birds games, and had the most fun with this Star Wars-themed version. And that's not just because it's Star Wars. This game shows Rovio is at the top of its game, using a beloved license to deliver the series' most creative levels to date.

Who gets grumpy from the sound of screaming birds, can skip Angry Birds Star Wars without thinking twice. The base of the game remains unchanged, but its looks have been altered. Whoever perfected previous Angry Birds-games and started showing symptoms of withdrawal, can prepare himself for fun game-nights with pigs and birds from a galaxy far, far away.

I figured that it would pretty much be a version of Angry Birds Space with some Star Wars graphical flourishes tossed in to make the game a 'Star Wars game'. After spending time with Angry Birds Star Wars, though, I'm happy to say that there's a lot more to the game than that.

    Using the Red Bird's lightsaber mid-flight is a joy. [Jan 2013, p.89]
  9. Nov 12, 2012
Angry Birds Star Wars is far from the most original game you'll play, but the addicting formula still works great, and fans of the classic movies will love seeing this silly take on Luke Skywalker's adventures.
  10. Nov 8, 2012
As an Angry Birds game, it's great. As a Star Wars tie-in, it's great. Overall, Angry Birds Star Wars is everything you were hoping for, and it handily proves skeptics wrong.
  11. Nov 8, 2012
Angry Birds Star Wars is the best Angry Birds game yet, and the best Star Wars spin-off in a long time. It's going to be big, and deservedly so.

Whether or not you're a Star Wars fan, Angry Birds Star Wars is a ton of fun. With its latest, Rovio has proven that Angry Birds can be more than a casual slingshotting time killer. Although it doesn't stray too far from its pick-up-and-play roots, at its best the game contains real challenge and surprisingly clever twists.

Angry Birds Star Wars offers enough enjoyment, you don't even need to be a Star Wars fan. Rovio proves it has more than enough ideas; which can be seen in the refined design of the birds and the levels. The birds make the gameplay more action-oriented and the levels demand more finesse. It is too bad you race through the levels at light speed, and are forced to pay more some extra.

An odd couple crossover that is not only a loving homage to Star Wars but, more importantly, the best Angry Birds game so far.
  15. Nov 13, 2012
Angry Birds Star Wars successfully adds something new to the classic Angry Birds gameplay, delivering a rich, fun experience once again.

This mix'n'match of brands is by far the best adaptation of Angry Birds. It combines all the best sides of the game series and throws in a really nice set of characters. The force is strong in this one. [Dec 2012]
  17. Nov 8, 2012
Angry Birds Star Wars is faithful to the source material, filled with content, imaginative, and fun. Film tie-in or not, this is the best 'Birds yet.
  18. Nov 8, 2012
A respectable sequel, one that both incorporates the fiction of the brand, but also improves on previous games, progressing the franchise.
  19. Nov 8, 2012
Angry Birds Star Wars is exactly what you'd expect, so it's a lot of fun.
  20. Nov 18, 2012
It's my favorite game in the series, and is well worth the status of 'must-play' for any iOS gamer.
  21. Nov 12, 2012
Rovio has managed to create another compelling Angry Birds game, and I have to say it is the best one yet. Given the amount of nostalgia, and hours of gameplay it provides it is a must for any iOS gamer.
  22. Nov 9, 2012
It brings back all the elements that made the previous episodes as great as they are, wrapped up by Star Wars. It's still as fun as always, and really recommended if you're a fan of any of the series.

i cant stand how heavily OVER RATED this franchise is, its just throwing birds at pigs, REALLY REPETITIVE and BORING! i can't see how people are liking this, and i don't post this review only to hate on angry birds, no, this game, is EXACTLY the same as ALL of the other titles in this franchise, it was fun, for like the first couple minutes, but after that it's just up and boring. period. This is a fantastic little game and a welcome, refreshing addition to the Angry Birds franchise. What I really like about this iteration is that it's clearly had a lot of spit and polish added, there's clearly a lot of love here for both Angry Birds and Star Wars ... so long as Rovio don't go too far with this and start making Indiana Jones, Batman etc etc, I think this was a great move. This is the finest Angry Birds game Rovio has made so far. What is there not to like about the game? You get elements of both the original Angry Birds and Angry Birds in Space and birds that have the abilities of Star Wars characters like the force, lightsabers and blasters. Just imagine Angry Birds mixed in with the story of the Original Star Wars Trilogy and you have this masterpiece of a game. Don't watch any trailers for this game. Play it without watching anything about it beforehand. That helps with the wow factor of this game. It's a gorgeous mixture.

Be warned: This game is insanely addictive.
