  • Summary: One of the greatest first person shooters of all time, BioShock comes to iOS! BioShock is the “genetically enhanced” first person shooter where you can turn everything into a weapon: the environment, your body, fire and water, and even your worst enemies.

Bioshock for iOS isn’t perfect, and I can understand the hesitance from those that may have already played it before. But for newcomers, it’s still an experience that needs to be taken.

Bioshock isn’t at the same level on iOS as other platforms, but it still delivers quite an immersive experience that makes the iOS platform a better place. It’s worth picking up for the premium price if you haven’t played Bioshock before even with subpar controls, and graphics for the involved, and intense experience to partake in.

Do you love Bioshock? Have you always wanted to be able to play it on the go? Well then your prayers have been answered. More or less.

Only recommended for those who haven’t played the game on PC or console. The iOS port is good, but if you’ve played the original Bioshock before, you’ll feel like something’s missing.

If you've never played before, you can likely find cheaper and better-looking versions on consoles or computers that won't be as tough to control.

Well, obviously this had to be done. Bioshock is a beautiful iShooter, but unfortunately the controls are absolutely horrible. Here we have one of the best FPS games on iPad. This tells a sad story of a genre that’s totally wrong for the platform. [Oct 2014]

Bioshock is a marvel of intelligent storytelling, creepy atmosphere, and stunning world design. You get all that in this iOS port, but not without compromise.

So many people gives this version a bad score because of the graphics. I give it a good score because of the game itself. Graphics or not; this is a great game with a great story to tell.

I'm fortunate enough to be playing on an iPhone 6+ and the controls work better here than I would imagine on an iPad or other device. The thing I'm not hearing from other critics is how the game plays using a blutooth controller, which the game is compatible with. With my desire to see all the action unhindered, I may get one that grips the phone making it a more portable game machine. Still, actions such as turning require multi swipes, which interrupt the Danse Macabre that is Bioshock. I've not gotten very far, and while the graphics are said to be sub-par, it's still nice having a portable version of this game whenever I want to play. At 2+gb's in size, I won't be keeping it on my phone all the time. Expand

I commend 2K China's Xcom Enemy Unknown, but that was the exception, not the rule. While Xcom's turn-based gameplay mechanics allowed for mobile gameplay, Bioshock is a much more of a sit-down immersive experience.
Just buy the game on PC. Most baseline laptops nowadays can run this game licitly split. So long as you at least have a dual-core processor, 2 GB of RAM, and a graphics card akin to Intel HD Graphics, your computer will run this game much better than the iOS port. Hold out for a $5 steam sale and thank me later.

Aiming is a nightmare, the once beautiful graphics are no longer present, and the original clunkiness of combat is replaced with the inability to use combat effectively at all. Every good part of this game is destroyed in this version of the game and all that remains is a skeleton of what you wish you were playing. Read my review on the Xbox 360 page to see more details. Seriously, with that graphics...i can't get a great experience. Maybe in a while you'll see Crysis 3 on ios with Mario graphics.

    I played on Iphone 5.
