Bug Princess is a pretty intensive game, but strangely relaxing to play, and definitely addictive enough to come back to over and over. If you're not put off by its old-fashioned arcade-style options (no saving, no passwords, no safety net, earn your continues), you will have a buggy good time.

Bug Princess is another top class shoot-em-up from Cave that doesn't disappoint. It might not have quite the same depth in scoring as some of the later coin-ops and there are no extra modes to speak of, but it certainly hits the Bullet Hell spot.

Actually Bug Princess is the best danmaku shooter developed by Cave for iOS devices, with great style, intense shoot 'em up action and Universal support between iPhone and iPad. What's next? Ketsui and Ibara, we hope.

Suffice it to say, Cave has done it yet again. Bug Princess is another great shooter to add to the ol' iOS library. It's significantly cheaper than its brethren, too, so it's also bound to appeal to frugal entomophobics everywhere.

It's all a little garish, as are most of Cave's games! The story too makes little sense, but then again, who cares! This game is all about blowing shit up amongst a bevy of bullets. And for that reason it's a rip-roaring success.

It may look chaotic, but this is as controlled as iOS gaming gets. Immaculately calibrated touch controls give you the tools to escape even the most ferocious barrage, while the five stages challenge twitch reflexes, muscle memory and pattern recognition equally. One of the toughest games you'll ever play, then, but also one of the fairest.

Bug Princess is another beautiful and fun CAVE shoot-em-up on the iOS platform. The music is charming, the controls are responsive, and there is enough care in this port -- from translation to bonus menus -- to really showcase CAVE's love for the genre. Bug Princess is a great shoot-em-up and a great iOS game that truly captures the power of touch gaming.

In 2004, Mushihime-sama or "Bug Princess" was released in Japanese arcades and was later ported to the PS2 (Japan-only) and XBOX 360 (Japan-only).
I would say that 99% games that get ported from actual gaming consoles to the iOS are unplayable due to the lack of tactile buttons on the mobile devices. This however is not one of those games. They give you the option of changing the screen size to "small" which gives you ample room on the bottom of the touch screen to use your finger without having it block game play. For a "bullet-hell" style shooter, the touch controls are actually very precise and they help you make fine movements in between enemy attacks. Your ship will auto-fire and bombs (if you have some in reserve) will prevent death and detonate dealing big damage whilst clearing the screen of most enemies. This automation is perfect for a device without tactile buttons so there is no need to worry about anything besides maneuvering and aiming. This is a fantastic game and is well worth the $4.99 price tag.
