Cracking Sands could be described as a mix between "Mario Kart" and "Motorstorm". There are some problems with the camera, but overall is another good game from Polarbit.

Cracking Sands manages to walk a tight line of balance between giving players too much self-sufficiency and not enough variety. At times it stumbles, but as a Kart-a-like racer it still manages to capture the fun of the genre.

Featuring lots of customization options, multiple race types, and online multiplayer, Cracking Sands has a lot going for it, but the gameplay just isn't all that compelling.

Cracking Sands is a comprehensive top-down racer. Although it plays like many other racing games, the numerous game mode, races, and customization features make it one of the better racing apps available.

In the end, Cracking Sands ends up being a title recommended to racing fans that are looking for a title with a wealth of content. That's pretty much all it has going for it as the visuals aren't particularly inspiring, the controls aren't as precise as I'd like, the weapons-based gameplay, while fun, can easily become too hectic.

The main drawback is that it doesn't feel all that different than the many other kart racers in the App Store. After a couple of races, it's tough to tell this one apart, so there's a definite repetitive feeling especially without any features to truly stand out.

I would really like to see the game updated with touch controls, and at least the option to manage the speed. A shame really, as the game both has cool customization and online multiplayer.

Cracking Sands is a bitter pill to swallow as it comes from such a respected company like Polarbit. It's kind of an unpolished mess.

While there are some standout moments in Cracking Sands, all too often it feels like it isn't quite finished.

While Cracking Sands looks like it has some promise, the fact is that - in our opinion, that is - it just wasn't very much fun to play. The bad outweighs the good, and the whole time, it was hard not to imagine ourselves instead playing other better examples of the genre.

They've managed to bring some new aspects to the kart racing genre as a top down approach to the game and an active choice and use of your weapons. Like the customization part of your kart and character ... in summary, a great kart racer Full Review »
