Combining a respectful homage to its source material with a decent battle system and loads of unlockables, Final Fantasy: Record Keeper is the real deal in my book.
Final Fantasy Record Keeper proves that the free-to-play approach to a historical series like Final Fantasy can be made in a right way.
An unnecessary amount of initial complexity can’t stop Final Fantasy Record Keeper from being a solid mobile game that offers a fun, original adventure peppered with iconic elements from the series’ past.
Even with its imperfections, Final Fantasy Record Keeper is a game you’ll gladly sink hours into as you fine-tune your party and play around with abilities and equipment.
Probably the best Final Fantasy game on mobile and a good example of how to play fair with both nostalgia and free-to-play microtransactions.
It’s not exactly the ultimate all-star gathering we might’ve hoped for, but Final Fantasy Record Keeper is a decent nostalgia trip.
Record Keeper isn’t offensive. It can sometimes be a little fun. But it’s not incredibly engaging.
