By combining the breakneck endless pace of games like Temple Run with Sonic’s old school sense of speed, Sonic Dash manages to champion two things quite well; taking an existing formula and bettering it, and developing a Sonic game that’s finally worthy of the hedgehog’s good name.
It's a bit pricey for an endless runner, especially considering that there is only one environment to run through, and it's mostly interchangeable with just about any other Temple Run clone out there, but this is also the best Sonic has played on a smartphone yet.
With more zones and less weighty in-app-purchases by way of an update, Dash could be one of the more enticing endless runners on the market. As it stands, you might find yourself picking this up, and running right past it after a fleeting sense of enjoyment.
Sega seems to find it hard enough to make a decent Sonic game these days, and then it goes and publishes something like Sonic Dash - which with a little more polish could be great, but is instead rushed and spoiled by greed.
Sonic the Hedgehog seems like a perfect fit for an endless runner, but Sonic Dash fumbles the fundamentals and aggravates with heavy-handed in-app purchases.
A very nice twist on the Sonic formula, with the endless runner style. Simple, intuitive, how far can YOU run with the world's fastest thing alive? All I can say is that this game could really cut down red-ring prices and needs, or at least make red rings more abundant.
Sonic Dash Is An Endless Runner Where You Jump Dodge And Spindash While You Defeat Enemies And Collect Rings. It Controls By Swiping The Screen. You Can Unlock Many Characters Like Rouge,Movie Sonic,Santa Clause Big,And So Many More. You Can Unlock Characters Through Events Or Unlocking Worlds. The Game Is Still Being Supported Even To This Day With Events Happening All The Time. While Its Not Like Sonic Generations Level Of Perfection. Its Definitely NOT Like Sonic Spinball Or Sonic Battle. Overall Sonic Dash Is 7/10
It's pretty fun, albeit basic. For mobile standards, this is one of the better games you could play. Probably a good game for the toilet. Not a must-have, but still good.
Sonic Dash is a classic endless runner. Swipe left and right to change lanes, swipe up to jump, down to spin dash, and tap to attack. The controls are responsive, so no problems here.
The visuals are okay, as is the music and sounds. You get a selection of the most popular Sonic characters to play as. These can be either purchased with real money or with red rings, the game's premium currency.
Sadly, money is all this game is about. Ads are everywhere. They pop up in between runs. You can watch ads to get an extra run after you die. Watch more ads to get an extra spin on the wheel of fortune. It comes across as desperate, and it cheapens the Sonic brand. The game itself is quite boring, too. Soon it just feels like a chore. You log in once a day to grab the free goodies and that's it.
Even the game levels are designed to make you pay real money. Obstacles are placed in such a manner you often can't see what's coming next. You roll under an obstacle only to fall into a chasm you couldn't see. This forces you to pay the premium red rings (which are purchased with real money) if you wish to continue.
You can do missions and daily challenges (you collect 4 pieces of a puzzle and get a prize once a day) to earn free red rings. For every 3 completed missions you are given 2 red rings. The missions range from "jump over 20 enemies" to "dash 3 times in a run". They're all very easy to complete and I had no problems whatsoever, until I ran into a mission that required me to complete the daily challenge twice in a row. I did the daily challenge for over two weeks in a row, and the mission never completed. You can skip missions you are unable to complete, but it costs you 10 red rings. You know, the premium currency you pay real money for.
Sonic Dash is a disgusting money grab and there's nothing genuine about it. Sega proves once again it has zero respect for Sonic fans. Don't let them profit off of you and avoid this game like a plague. If you want a good endless runner game, try Lara Croft: Relic Run instead.
SummaryPlay as Sonic the Hedgehog as you dash, jump and spin your way across stunning 3D environments. Swipe your way over and under challenging obstacles in this fast and frenzied endless running game for iPad, iPad mini, iPhone & iPod touch.
