Special props to the narration from the late Tony Jay, whose incredulity and exasperation with pretty much everything in the game is a warm delight.

Aside from the Old School implementation of game saves, The Bard's Tale is a great trip down memory lane that actually feels more suited to iOS.

There are some issues to the port of The Bard's Tale, but they pale in comparison to the vast amount of fun the game is. I feel really interested in finding the princess, and climbing towers filled with enemies to reach her. The characters feel genuine, and I can sympathize with the frustration he feels when he tries to negotiate with the multiple Bodbs.

This funny and entertaining take on the fantasy-RPG genre isn't without fault, but it manages to win you over regardless. A few hours in the hilarious company of The Bard is enough to make you question everything you know about RPG titles.

If you care more about story and overall presentation, then Bard's humorous story, great voice acting, and decent graphics should leave you highly satisfied.
  6. Dec 6, 2011
The Bard's Tale is a near perfect adaption of the 2004 original and while this means players can expect a quality title, it also means people who disliked it the first time around are unlikely to be persuaded to enjoy it this time around.

An excellent port of a fun and over-looked console RPG with hours of adventure, plenty of adult humor, and solid role-playing mechanics.

This game is a beast and easily the best game I've played on iOS so far. It's similar to Diablo but with more strategy involved. I particularly enjoyed the humor. It will definitely have you LOL. Full Review »
