This is a great MOBA experience very well adapted to mobile gaming. It needs more content, but so far the foundations are solid.

Although it serves as an excellent primer to the impending release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, The Witcher Battle Arena proudly waves its own sword, carving a path for eager gamers waiting for a new adventure.

It's perfect for the mobile platforms, as the quick matches can really be a relief while waiting for the next bus.

An exciting online arena game that's simple enough for mobile but complex enough to provide plenty of challenge.

A very interesting way to spend our time before The Witcher III arrives next May.

You should take a look at The Witcher Battle Arena not only because it's a free game. The Witcher MOBA has this illusive "something" that pulls you in and generates lots of fun. The heroes have a rich back-story and the combat system is as simple, as it is satisfying. Many hours have passed with me looking at a tablet screen in excitement, and many more will pass in the future.

The touch controls start off feeling a little detached, but it will grow on you. [Issue#158, p.109]

If we pretend that Battle Arena is not a part of The Witcher franchise and is not spreading its universe too thin, it’s a good mobile MOBA, very simplified though (one basic mode, two small maps, nine characters). [03/2014, p.65]

The Witcher Battle Arena tries something new delivering a faster, less strategical MOBA experience. And it almost succeeds.

A decent multiplayer mobile experience that manages to combine the domination mechanic with more traditional MOBA systems. As of right now, it still needs quite a bit of work in terms of the movement and online lag, but quite a few updates have already been rolled out, so things might get improved soon.

A title not only recommended if you are fan of the world of The Witcher, but also if that's your genre, given the interesting new mechanics this game is carrying. Give it at least a possibility.

Quite enjoyable, but it fails in key aspects. Online is not stable and it lacks content to support the experience for a long time.
  13. Feb 13, 2015
There's something good in this attempt to fit the MOBA genre to mobile platforms, but lacks in content and it’s way too unbalanced to be recommended.

The Witcher Battle Arena might look pretty, but it's all too simple and lacking in fun.

Like most MOBAs, The Witcher Battle Arena is free to play, so of course you’re free to check it out on your own accord. However, I just don’t think it’s worth your time at this point.

You will not find here the familiar classic DotA gameplay with towers, bases and infinitely spawning infantry. Instead, the CD Projekt RED created the team slasher in the format "3 vs. 3" with the main goal to capture and hold control points. [Issue #195, p.81]

The Witcher Battle Arena succeeds at a base level, but at its absolute height, it just barely becomes competent.

For now this game is little more than a noble, albeit misguided attempt to make a MOBA ideally suited to mobile platforms.

Even better is that it's free-to-play and has a Witcher skin.

The gameplay has you capturing and holding control points in order to run down the other team's score, whether they be real people or AI. It's not a very large game. Only two maps, one game mode, and a handful of playable characters. There's enough here though to make it worth playing on the go. Matches can go on a little long for a mobile game so be sure to have a little time set aside.

The only real issue this mobile MOBA has is with the touch controls. They can just make getting around the map a touch awkward, but it's not that bad. Overall this is a great attempt at bringing a MOBA to a mobile device. It's another solid way of taking the Witcher brand into a new type of game.

I give "The Witcher: Battle Arena" an 8.5/10.
