There have been virtually zero upgrades outside of the four-player versus modes, which lends little reason not to go back and play SNES version which featured both Dr. Mario and Tetris...This doctor's Ph.D. expired long ago.
  2. While not as exciting or enduring as Nintendo's last puzzle game, "The New Tetris," Dr. Mario is a legitimate and satisfying puzzle game that is executed rather nicely in this four-player-focused package.
  3. Dr. Mario is too little too late and definitely isn’t what the doctor ordered.

Fortunately, the simple yet dead-on controls react perfectly and never make the game unintentionally frustrating.
  5. Those who've never had an appointment with the doctor may take to it, but others who in the past made regular visits might feel that he hasn't kept up with the times.
  6. While the game still holds up, there's nothing really added to it, other than a bunch of "Paper Mario" inspired cinemas and a few new characters.
  7. The learning curve of this title is still a dream and the game is just as good as it always was. The new modes are icing on the vitamin.
  8. Da Gameboyz
This game is perfect for the promising portable (GBA), but on the N64 it comes across as a haphazard attempt at putting *one more game* on the market before the system's demise.
  9. In only a few days my anti-videogame girlfriend had become a wide-eyed, pixel staring “let me try this level just one more time” gaming geek.
  10. Hardcore puzzle gamers who’ve tasted better fare won’t want to go back to this cafeteria-cut game any time soon. The Doctor is in, but he’s showing his age.
  11. The few new game modes and extra features hardly justify the price tag. Nor does the fact there are already numerous similar games available for free on the Web.
  12. Daily Radar
This new version, in fact, is much the same as the ones of yesteryear. But since that means it still features great gameplay and some of the best multiplayer in existence, you won't hear us complaining.
  13. With new gameplay modes and new challenges, Dr. Mario 64 is a fresh and entertaining experience even to gamers who have spent countless hours playing its forerunners. It may be short on innovation, but it's a pleasing remake of a masterfully crafted formula.
