Even the single-player mode is fun, but the Party really starts when the players interact with each other while competing in this hilarious game.
  2. Mario creates another new genre and further demonstrates why the N64 is the system for party animals. The first game of it's kind … for groups of three or four people, though, Mario Party is a Nintendo 64 classic.
  3. The game that would start a Mario-themed party-game revolution. [Jan 2004, p.189]
  4. Bring over a few friends, and although they may laugh at the cutesy setting at first, the excitement raised by the frantic multiplayer action is nothing short of sensational. Avoid this one if you're one of those shady loner-types.
  5. Do whatever you can to play this game the way it should be played : with four players! The amount of trash talking, cheating, and jinxing provided when you're playing with three other people is unbelievable. A great game that pioneers a great new genre : The Party Genre.
  6. It's that multiplayer competitive spark of screaming at and/or cheering for your friends that injects life into these often-simple little games, and without it, they're just simple little games. The less-social gamer might want to rent.
  7. A party game with great intentions, but unsatisfying delivery. This is a tedious and often frustrating experience, and its few bright spots get squashed under the weight of Mario's fat, boring ass. This is one dead party.

This is the greatest game I have ever played besides Twilight Princess. Almost every single mini-game is fun and enjoyable to play. However, it is best to play with multiple people. Expand

Mario changed the party game genre as well. With a ton of minigames to play, it is hard to get bored of this game in a few hours. The graphics and sound in the game are okay. Collapse

Completely boring as a single-player game but a hell of a lot of fun in multiplayer. I loved the gameplay that the boards added and there was some great mini-games on offer. Unfortunately there was also a few that weren't so great. Overall though a hell of a lot of fun. Expand

The game is fun, the voices are amusing, the mini-games are good, and the mini-games that involves rotating the analog stick leads me to say, "oooooowwwwwwww." If this game is going to be out on the Virtual Console, Nintendo should replace the analog mechanics with repeated button pressing Expand

I would not recommend this. The RNG in the game is all Bias towards one character. This game could destroy friendships and severe families. For your own sakes, don't buy this game. Expand
