An outstanding game. It looks great, is very well balanced, and is easy to get started with. The game has more strategy and fewer mouse gymnastics than the average RTS game.
ITA: Uno dei giochi di strategia in tempo reale più belli mai creati nella storia dei videogiochi. Bella l'idea delle campagne ambientate in epoche storiche diverse. Una delle saghe più riuscite del genere.
ENG: One of the most beautiful real-time strategy games ever created in the history of video games. The idea of campaigns set in different historical epochs is brilliant. One of the most successful sagas of its genre.
EL mejor juego de estrategia que pude jugar en mi vida, fui el mejor en clases de historia universal gracias a este juego, me pase el juego base y todas las expansiones en pc en formato fisico (aun no había steam).
The AoEII environment is extremely rich in detail. Even more than the original, details on buildings are captured right down to the dead leaves resting on the rooftops.
The possibilities of this real-time strategy game seem nearly endless and it definitely is on my short list of personal "game of the year" nominees. If the music and sound isn't spectacular (which it's not), it's my opinion that most strategy gamers will focus on the game's stellar gameplay and forgive any minor shortcomings, the largest of which is possibly the lack of a zoom or map rotation feature.
There's a certain strategic subtlety that games like "Dark Reign" and "Starcraft" inspire that is in many ways missing from Age of Empires 2, particularly in the single player mode.
A rock-solid real-time strategy offering from folks that have a proven track record for providing historically accurate and fun strategy games. Its depth and long list of features will keep even the best empire builders and military strategists busy for months.
The storytelling, art and soundtrack are amazing very immersive but it has the same problem that many old games have, the game mechanics are hard and annoyingly complex since technology didn't allow them to create very long or complex games they resorted to making the games difficult so the players would expend more time on them, and with the wide variety of more modern and better games that are available today not everyone is willing to go trough this to finisht he game.
Actually abysmal game, which was only popular because of the absurdly high amount of sweaty gamers of the mid 2000's, when the average monitor had no more than 5 pixels and weighed 30lbs. Only in that era these kind of graphics and shallow strategy would be kind of acceptable. The fact that this game is now considered a "classic" is an absolute marvel of marketing and business strategy. The only two positive marks that this game had in gaming culture is the "Wololo" voiceline and the sheep (even though there should've been more of them).
I always hated AOE2 let's just be clear, It takes too damn long to do anything, but time flies when you're playing, so I either decide I'm going to be productive today or I'm going to play AOE. The models or OK I guess but The animations are horrendous, if this was 1997 I'd understand, but 1999? Come on, it has 8 directional sprites and most of them don't load properly. units are stupidly slow and don't have alternate speeds, there's no time skip button or end turn. All factions are almost identical with only tiny differences. Here are the upsides: the music is good, though a bit too noisy, it needs to be ambient and not distracting. Campaigns stories are interesting but the missions are boring and have you doing the exact same thing over and over, if they could subtract base building it'd be more fun Desu. The worst part of this game is no other historical RTS game has really beaten it, don't even get me started on Total War.
SummaryAge of Empires II: The Age of Kings is the sequel to the award-winning, best-selling real-time strategy game "Age of Empires."
