Critic score distribution:
  1. Positive: 1 out of 12
  2. Negative: 5 out of 12
  1. A great "who-done-it" mystery game with huge elements of puzzle solving. If you're into this sort of genre, you'll be pretty happy with the title.
  2. Art of Murder: FBI Confidential is a decent point and click adventure, with good longevity and an engrossing story to match.
  3. Although the game rarely excels at any particular aspect, and the loose characterisation lets it down, the presentation and story are solid enough to atone for any rough edges, and will keep you guessing until the end.
  4. There's no great mystery, after all - Art of Murder is a competent game that doesn't bring anything new to the table, but never commits any blatant mistakes.
  5. A mediocre adventure game that may offer a few hours of enjoyment to some. Much of it is illogical or unexplained, and the voice-acting is hard to get past.
  6. Art of Murder gives it a decent try but doesn't quite rise to the challenge. Poor Agent Bonnet has beauty but not brains.
  7. Art of Murder gets most of the fundamentals right, but after spending an hour or so with its grating characters, banal dialogue, and inept plot, you probably won't care. [Oct 2008, p.63]
  8. Sub-par in almost every respect.
  9. 45
It's a traditional adventure game that mucks up all the traditional reasons for playing.
  10. Art of Murder is poorly paced, illogically structured and often downright laughable.
  11. Art of Murder paints itself into a corner with the same old brushes we've seen misused time and time again.
  12. Truly awful - one of the worst adventure games in years. [Aug 2008, p.87]
