The matter is simple – the game is free to play and, if you take my word for it, an excellent shooter. In a perfect world, it would knock the CoD series on its ass. Of course, in a perfect world its name wouldn't be Blacklight: Retribution and in a perfect world, it would have better ballistics and the graphics would be equally as good on all lanes.
Great shooting mechanics and deep customization options make for an addictive combination, and its free-to-play model makes it easy to jump into with no upfront cost.

A polished, enjoyable shooter with a fast pace and unique mechanics that are easy to learn and fun to employ. Whatever minor fumbles it may make, the compelling design overrides them to the point where the game is easy to recommend. Plus, it's free. Who doesn't like free?
For FPS fans looking for a cheap fix, this game will definitely do a good job of keeping you happy for a while (or at least till Battlefield 2143 comes out). There's a lot of fun to be had here, and because the price of admission is free, that makes the deal even sweeter. Just bear in mind that there are still a few rough edges here and there.
The fact that it's free-to-play is almost the only point of interest in this derivative shooter - and even that is far less appealing once you get into the details.
This game is NOT pay to win. If u train and play this game very much, u will get OP. I never bought Zen coins or what it's called! It's pretty easy if u win. Just train and play. Best Free-2-Play shooter ever! U can customize ur own weapon, so cool it is! Just try it guys! Just play little bit, and u say: WOW !!! This game is worth playing :D
I would rate this game with a 10/10, but unfortunately despite it being free and having awesome mechanincs and a great gameplay experience it is a "pay to win game", which ultimately undermines the overall experience. If you want to have any sort of loadout upgrade, you will have to pay as it takes an eternity to gain any sort of points during gameplay in order to customize without taking out your credit card. Nonetheless, if you are willing to spend a few bucks in order to not get owned and be on par with the rest of the online community of this game, then this is the best choice out there.
This is free-to-play game is not for once a buy to win in many cases. Everything can be done via the In Game Currency. The idea of Combat Points brings the player to have more strive towards actually getting into the battle. My only couple of vices with it are the device that lets the player see through walls and the taunts. There is an achievement that gives the player a reward for trolling other players.
Overall this game isn't that bad for a shooter. It's fairly fun, fast paced, has pretty decent game play and has nice graphics. Unfortunately Blacklight is completely PAY 2 WIN at the moment which makes the game a lot less fun unless your willing to sink a bunch of money into the game it might be better to just pick up a pay to play game. As of right now you can either pay cash to unlock the cool classes and extra customization slots and it can't be unlocked with actual game play. The items you can unlock with game play aren't nearly as game changing.
I can't seem to pull myself together to say something incredibly positive about this game. For starters many people claim this game is not a pay-to-play model, which is an outright lie. You are given a starter weapon set that is nothing more than bare-bones and you gain points at an unbearable rate. These points are then put towards purchasing new weapons and armor and other upgrades. The problem? These purchases are temporary. After a short amount of time (a single day I believe), your recently purchased items are automatically taken from you and if you want to keep using them, you need to pay real life money. This is the epitome of the failure of the pay-to-play model.
While I do agree that the graphics are impressive and the game feel is superb, it does not make up for the controls which is to no degree comfortable. Regardless of changing up my controls, my attempts to make the game control well went to no avail. I could not get used to it at all. Stuttering and slow-downs are so numerous, it is a wonder I can even feel good about getting a kill. It feels like I'm playing the system more than playing the game.
Overall, the game has an interesting model, but it collapses in on itself with it's pay-to-play model, it's horrid controls and all and all bad delivery.
