A living manual of how to update a classic: getting the core idea and expanding and inventing new situations around it. InXile has done a really good work with this Choplifter HD, making it a really recommended purchase for any fan of the original.

It's addicting, it's difficult, and it updates the best parts of the original while staying true to its classic gameplay.

Choplifter HD is a pretty fun game. Unfortunately some technical flawless and some visual problems reduces the final evaluation.

This is an awesome and addictive retro-style game. I had played the Activision game for the 2600 in the early eighties. This is a reimagined dream. The level design is great. Scoop Sanderson is good comic relief from all the death and destruction. Expand

  2. Choplifter HD is a really cool game for all classic lovers, but especially for older players who remember titles like that from Atari or Amiga. You can find all kinds of missions - seek & destroy, rescue etc. Even some for zombie lovers. Game is utilizing UE3, so it should run fine on every low end PC. Controls are a little funky and weird, but you can get used to it. And in contrast to other modern games Choplifter can be hard. It's not one of those moronic AAA titles, where you only press fire and watch cut scenes. Expand

  3. This game gives you an opportunity to control a helicopter and complete different missions - rescue people, destroy some objects and escape. The graphics are not that nice, even thought the name says - HD. Enemy, buildings and all other background could be more detailed or it's even could be used other art style, which is simpler but pleasant to the eye. First half of the game was kinda boring, because there were a small number of enemy, so missions were easy. But then new enemy appears - jets, tanks, mortars, which brings a difficulty to the game. After completing each missions you get stars 1 to 5 and it's important to get more of them to unlock a better helicopters. Some of the missions could seem too hard, but after giving a few tries you will find a way how to beat them fast and safe. Also there are few zombie missions, where you have to safe people from zombie's attacks and if you land too close to ground, they can jump up to your helicopter and you will need to shake them out. The game lacks of ammunition upgrades, where you could choose what weapons to use. In start of each mission the pilots make some jokes out so it doesn't seem that you control a empty helicopter, also in one mission there a Duke Nukem character (real Duke Nukem's voice actor), which you can try to shoot and it will say some phrase. If you like a side-scrolling arcade games and see this game on a sales, try it out, if you are not a fan, then avoid this game, because it will not satisfy your needs. Expand
