  1. It is definitely a diamond in the rough, as was the original Chrome. SpecForce offers up some intense firefights, great gameplay, awesome visuals, and astonishing voice actors.
  2. If you love the FPS genre then Chrome Specforce is certainly a worthy contender for your time, just do not expect anything vastly different here. Yes, we did enjoy the original, and this prequel is slightly better, however many will justifiably be left disappointed with the lack of progression that Tachland have made in those two years since Chrome.
  3. At the end of the day the experience, despite how crooked it can appear in parts, is absolutely entertaining. From a budget game, that’s about the best you can ask.
  4. There is amusement to be found here, for those with low expectations. [Oct 2005, p.91]
  5. It’s cause is certainly helped by the price tag, relatively low system requirements and the fact you needn’t have even heard of Chrome to enjoy it. Sadly, though, even if the game did take the series to headier heights, it would still be destined to be ignored and forgotten in a world filled with Half-Life 2, Far Cry and so many other top drawer PC first-person shooters.
  6. The level design and AI is monotonous, but there are some elements where the vehicles come into play and dinosaurs enter the picture (haven’t fought one since Turok) that show glimpses of imagination.
  7. If only the story was a more integral part of proceedings, and if only the gunplay was better, with better AI routines displayed by both your teammates and enemies.

A continuation of Chrome. Same decent enough graphics and features. Same moderate amount of weapon variety and space to carry diverse weaponry. Long enough quest chain (but not tedious), and cool stealth and vehicle control features.
Definitely worth $5 or less price tag.

Kind of the original chrome meets Crysis. Still feels older than its release date and sadly not a ton of fun. It's perfectly playable but there's just so many better games out there. Expand
