Cogs Image
  • Summary: Cogs is a puzzle game where players build machines from sliding tiles. Players can choose from 50 levels and 3 gameplay modes. New puzzles are unlocked by building contraptions quickly and efficiently. Inventor Mode: Starting with simple puzzles, players are introduced to the widgets that are used to build machines - gears, pipes, balloons, chimes, hammers, wheels, props, and more. Time Challenge Mode: If you finish a puzzle in Inventor Mode, it will be unlocked here. This time, it will take fewer moves to reach a solution, but you only have 30 seconds to find it. Move Challenge Mode: Take your time and plan ahead. Every click counts when you only get ten moves to find a solution. [Steam] Expand

  1. Cogs can best be described as kind of cyber punk style meets Leonardo Da vinci. Looks simple enough at first, but you soon find there is some real brain benders involved.
  2. A unique but challenging puzzle game that is best left to the patient.
  3. 73
The extreme difficulty, coupled with the lack of a hint system, makes Cogs more of a diversion that you'll probably move on from quickly than something that you'll sink a lot of time into.

A brilliantly inventive game with stunning visual aspects. It combines the beauty of the standard sliding puzzle with the complexity of the steampunk inspired mechanics. Not only that, but after you've completed the game you have the option to better your scores through using less moves and less time. Lazy8 studios must also be commended on their friendliness and support to modders of the game as seen in their forum. Top marks guys. Expand

I love puzzle games and this one feeds my hunger for them. Gears, steam, balloons and bells some of the best things in a puzzle. Thank you for this game! Expand

  3. Your mileage may vary. Do you like sliding block puzzles? The one where there's a grid of numbers placed out of order with one free space, and you have to get them in order by sliding them around one a time? Then you'll like Cogs. Do you hate sliding block puzzles? Then you'll probably tolerate Cogs for a bit before uninstalling it. I personally fall into the latter camp. The art and animation are wonderful, and the way the puzzles are couched is rather innovative, but unfortunately you're still just sliding blocks around, one at a time. Expand
