A tower defense game combines with classic RTS feelings. Conan Unconquered does not look so attractive nowadays, it needs more enlightened ideas to impress gamers.
Conan will forever be engraved in our collective memory as the name of the greatest fictional barbarian that has ever lived, and with such a great legacy to live up to, the burden of pulling off a good game based on the Conan mythos is great. The people at Petroglyph, a gaming studio renown for their great RTS titles of the past, challenged themselves to accept this burden, and as far as I’m concerned, they pretty much pulled it off.
Brilliant game!
+ The music sets the comfortable Conan wibe.
+ First time trying the game I thought it was kind of easy... until wave 16! So easy to learn and hard to master.
+ Instruction in the game are simple and easy to understand and gets me up and running.
+ With all the waves you are constantly under pressure, and if you are ahead you can scout and level your hero on the map.
++ Just loving the game!
It has a classic old school RTS feel. Fun upgrade system and a variety of units and buildings. It is a simple style of game without some of the flash of alot of modern titles of similar stripes. However this is exactly the game someone like me wants. If you like Peteroglyph games then you will like this game. This appeals to a specific audience of people and you really have to already feel like you want this game before getting it. If you read other reviews and it puts you off then you may not be the type of person who will want this game.
Conan Unconquered could have been a great strategy game. Its epic and funny when you battle against hundreds of enemies, but a lack of content is its worst enemy.
Conan Unconquered is an often fun and always brutal experience that will keep you returning for beatings time after time, if you can excuse the already questionable paywall content, economic issues, and lack of game mode variety.
Conan Unconquered is a good game that has a lot going for it that has been a slow burn for me.
My first 5+ hours into Conan I would say were average at best. The game did not hook me and honestly does not do a good job in teaching you the game mechanics. However, once you push through that point, I think you will find the game very entertaining and I quite like the challenge it presents.
The Good: In-Depth Skill tree, music, sound and gameplay that features co-op play.
The Bad: No campaign or story, complicated skill tree, takes longer than normal to figure this game out.
Most people who put in too little time I could see walking away unimpressed. However just like anything, once you start to do something well, that's when things get fun and Conan Unconquered is no different.
It has a promising tactical approach, and I like the Conan franchise. But the game really not enough content, not enough work done for good player experience and on top, the marketing department made some bad decisions with the Day 1 DLC hiding away some of the very rare content, so the game gets even thinner.
Poor man's "They Are Billions" with day 1 DLC to boot. Although the game itself is entertaining, you're still better off with TAB for now. Wait for sale.
CU is not a bad strategy - tower defend game, but it's not good enough.
- The game developers are stupid, they made a terrible autosave option which interupts any player actions/commands and unable to turn off.
- The "Battle Standard" building is also stupid. Instead of expand a square area, it just makes a haft/quarter of a round area. It could be better if they made this thing work like the Pylon of Protoss in StarCraft.
- They should make "Upgrading icons" at the top of the buildings visible whether the match is pausing or not.
- I don't know if this is a bug or not. After placing some building in Green Area in Game Pause, only few buildings were contructing and most of other building weren't. It's like they limit the amount of buidling to build in Game Pause.
Conan game titles is one of the worst RPG and Tower Denfend that were made.
Old dated graphics looks like a game that was made in 2004 and doesn't have any campaign mode and of course the Denuvo garbage (The DRM of greedy awful companies). This is an incredibly boring game you basically only fight enemy waves and that's it. Game feels lacking and unpolished and everything is kinda repetitive. This core gameplay is more about management and less about strategy or about tactics. If you are looking for a good strategy game then look somewhere else don't waste money for this trash
