Critic score distribution:
  1. Positive: 8 out of 9
  2. Negative: 0 out of 9
  1. The number of realms, the number of races and classes of fighters available will mean the game will take a long, long time to complete, and even then the fun isn't over.
  2. The graphical facelift has really pulled this game up to the next level, but Mythic was not satisfied to end it there. Instead it added new races, and new zones while expanding the mythology of the game as well.
  3. The Catacombs expansion only adds to what is still the best guild and realm based MMORPG. With its much-improved graphics and new instance dungeon zones there has never been a better time to own this game.
  4. Undoubtedly Catacombs is the best thing to hit DAoC in a long while, but although it does make the game more beginner friendly, it’s hard to see it competing with the mighty WoW.
  5. In spite of its aging engine and average sound, Catacombs is probably one of, if not the best add-on packs ever been released for an MMO. With the new areas, new tasks, model upgrades and inclusion of tons of content for solo players, this is a must own for any Dark Age of Camelot player.
  6. Catacombs is an excellent expansion and does a tremendous job at filling the solo and single-group content void.
  7. Camelot has never looked better, and Catacombs definitely gives seasoned players a good reason to stay, adn new ones a good reason to try this classic. [June 2005, p.70]
  8. Catacombs is well worth adding to your Camelot collection - provided that you already have an account and aren't planning to jump ship in the near future. [PC Gamer UK]
  9. Played the original? Then you'll probably enjoy this. [June 2005, p.92]
