  • Summary: Dark Horizon is a stark and atmospheric space combat simulation that aims to hurl its audience through an action-packed adventure, piloting its own ship through the perils that only space could have to offer. It's a plot-rich experience; 22 challenging missions, laced with special features such as full ship customization, original weapon creation, joystick support, and several modes of combat. 1. I am quite disappointed by the fact that the game felt so unpolished and crashed so much.
  2. Dark Horizon is one of those games that make you mutter, “been there, done that”. One gets reminded of old classic games like Wing Commander, but sadly without any novelty bonus. Be sure to check out the demo before picking up the title from the store.
  3. Sadly, it seems Wing Commander fans will have to wait a bit longer for their salvation. [Dec 2008, p.69]

There's no doubt about it; Dark Horizon is flawed. From flat-out errors to those moments where you can't help but wonder what, exactly, the developer was thinking, the game feels almost unfinished.
  5. Dark Horizon is a game that should be seen, not heard. Whether it should be played depends on just how empty your life is.
  6. It’s just average. It doesn’t push the bar in any way with nothing revolutionary appearing in it. The best way to describe this game is safe.
  7. So, Dark Horizon isn’t a horrible game. It’s just not a very good one, either. While nothing about it is particularly offensive, it still absolutely fails to generate any interest in a genre that, in most people’s eyes, stagnated a long time ago.

The sequel to Tarr Chronicles, Dark Horizon immerses itself in the unusual space mythology established in Tarr, and, with a handful is new features, is the better game but is essentially, more of the same. Expand
