  • Summary: This is one theme park that will never be extinct, letting you mix and match a kind-hearted stegosaurus with a terrifying T-Rex, give him horns and some teeth, and create a custom-made Dino Island resident. But be careful! One or two dinosaurs and a couple of rides don't necessarily mean colossal success. You have to manage the entire park, building and maintaining the dino enclosures, feeding them, and ensuring they are safe and comfortable. You also need to make sure your visitors are getting their money's worth, offering food, shelter and plenty of rest areas and finally, you have to take control of all the details, overseeing the budgets, planning the shows and making sure your restaurants and gift shops are frequent shopping stops. It's up to you to keep the crowds coming in... and the dinosaurs happy! [Strategy First] Expand

  1. Kids will definitely enjoy building their own park and creating their own mutated dinosaurs down to the last detail and Dino Island allows them to do it all.
  2. Has the potential to be a truly unique sim, but it's got the blocky aesthetics of an edutainment title, yet is too complex for junior to play on his own. [Sept 2002, p.85]
  3. Graphical scalability and an intuitive interface are heavily outweighed by poor graphics and sound, uninspired gameplay, and a lack of scientific information about the dinosaurs you are exploiting.
  4. The only thing this game has going for it is the novelty of creating your own hybrids of dinosaurs.
  5. Really, I’ve reviewed some bad games in my time, but Dino Island is the first that was completely and seemingly intentionally bad.

In short, this game sucks, don't buy it for yourself or anyone you love.
  7. Although there are some enjoyable aspects here, there are too many disappointments weighing down the whole endeavour.

The game has it all. Although the game can be complex, it never gets too tough to understand, even for the juniors. The graphics for the visitors are a little poor, but the dinosaur graphics are great. The controls are easy in use, although the mouse sensitivity is a little too high and cant be adjusted. This game is getting my full votes! Expand

It's a Jurassic Park game except your programmer doesn't shut off fences. I played this game over the span of 8 years and never got bored of it. Big bad IGN and... 'Game Over Online'? Never heard of it. Anyway, stop being high and mighty. Especially IGN, yuck. Expand

Yes, graphicaly kind of a disapointment, the fact is that this game outlived 2 PC's and is being played by my daugter girl for 4 years in a row.
