Dofus Image
  • Summary: This unique online game, midway between heroic fantasy and cartoon, lead the players to take part to a fabulous adventure in the colorful, 2D designed Universe of Amakna. DOFUS is a Tactical MMORPG which means that players progress in a real time universe, but when they fight against monsters or against other players, action is turn-based (with specific number of actions each turn). Thus, fights are breathtaking and each move is strategic. [Ankama Studio] Expand

  1. If you like to easily create uber-characters and enjoy killing clueless noobs, Dofus probably isn't the game for you. But, if you want something that's a little offbeat, with a heavy reliance on community and group goals, you can do a lot worse than spending $7 to see if you like it.
  2. This may not capture the fancy of hard-core gamers who like to battle mobs in real time, but relaxing into the pacing of the game provides a lightly entertaining experience.
  3. The comic-style and ironic atmosphere are nice, but there are other games of the same genre who are much more convincing.

  1. Great little game! Quaint, small download, easy to play, great social element, great battle mechanics. Gets tedious eventually but then all games do. Combat, to me, feels light years better than the vast majority of MMOs, as does the natural feel of the social element. Class! :) Expand

I like to rate things sensibly. So a 6 is by no means bad, but by no means is it any better than 'sort of good'. There's a lot to like about this game - the only implementation of strategy RPG mechanics in an online game, challenging PvP due to this, charming graphics, a multitude of careers, mounts and pets and 12 distinct classes. The average rating comes from the unnecessarily cruel amount of grinding you have to do for levelling up, advancing careers and dropping items to craft equipment. That, and the developers seem a little confused and haven't expanded the game for a year. Overall it's well worth checking out if you're looking for something different. Expand
