Overall it is hard not to be impressed with what Turtle Rock have achieved here, as Evolve is truly unlike anything available at the moment. Its no-nonsense approach is a breath of fresh air, and while the steep learning curve may force some gamers out of the loop early, those who remain will help form the core experience of the game in the months to come - a version of natural selection if you will.
In the end, Evolve is a wonderful concept that boasts a surprising, appreciated amount of variety and strategy. Many may not anticipate the level of depth and practice required to really be proficient, which is why some shooter fans might feel a tad misled.
One year later, the lasting appeal has now worn thin, but Evolve still stands as a solid, unique, team-based shooter that hits more marks than it misses. Overall, 8/10
Best underestimated game, full of action, hunting, tactics and good fun.
I have met good friends in this game, we play together everyday.
Must have every player
Sorry of my bad English
Evolve is a brilliant concept that, when matched with the right players, can be a lot of fun to partake in. The many unlocks and well-balanced characters build upon that at every step.
Evolve is, in the ideal environment, enjoyable, a game that offers a really interesting experience. However, that environment is hard to attain and weighs down a risky idea, where we miss more content in the form of game modes and where solo mode is, in short, unnecessary.
Evolve offers an excellent mix of competitive and cooperative gameplay but it is buried behind a muddled progression system and lengthy matchmaking / loading times.
There’s an ambitious and wonderfully tense multiplayer game hidden somewhere deep inside of Evolve, and on the rare occasions you can coax it out with perfectly balanced teams and a little luck, you’ll understand exactly what Turtle Rock was aiming for. More often than not, however, you’ll find yourself stuck in another dull and lengthy traipse through the jungle with an unsatisfying and lopsided payoff, made all the worse by a lack of substance or long-term appeal.
No actual campaign and focus on four players and one monster feels fresh only for a while. Currently, the constant repetition simply becomes boring, and interesting content fills only a couple of evenings.
WAIT A MINUTE !!!!! poor little boys , if you have ruined your money on skins stuffing and season passening ,you have dumbded youself , GAVE A ZERO TO YOU , and by the way read some reviews before spending your hard earned money on a game you dont know nothing !!!!
And plus , on some freakin pulse you buy skins and stuffs , and then two days later you realized that it was a really bad , bad move!!!! 150 box later and frustrated , you write this review !!!!!!!!
You will need to learn the vertue of PATIENCE !!!!!!!!! Don t be impulsive and normaly think before you gave a zero to a game **** myself i gave it 8/10 , but you force me to gave it a 10 with all those false impulse non-coherant reviews!!!!
Today i bought the game and got it for 20$ , five hours of gameplay later , lots of laughs and fun with my kids , in one or two months i will bring it back and they will give me a 10$ back of my next purchase !!!!!!!!
You know what i love about writing this review !!!!!!! I feel like i ve helped somebody that have lost all is pay at the grand casino of life !!!!!!! Poor little boys !!!!!! P.S. dont forget the magic word ,
PATIENCE !!!!!
With 5 friends to play with this game is funny, but if you are playing this alone you are going to have a bad time. Because with friends you can talk to each other and play as a team, but when you are playing alone and if one of your teammates are afk or decides to abandon the team you are going to have a bad time. Because a bot is going to take over if a teammate leaves, and sometimes the bot can be good, but most of the times the bot are ****. I can only recommend this game if you have 4 or more friends to play with.
GREAT GAME WITH FRIENDS. If you have five people to play with, then this is a sound investment. BEWARE: lots of DLC, online matchmaking isnt the best, and lack of a campaign may leave a sour taste, but give it a go or wait for a discounted price. It is a solid game but was overhyped.
I wish Evolve didn't have to die the way it did. Games like Dead by Daylight, Friday the 13th and any other game using the 1v4 formula really owes a lot to evolve. But it being a game that released for $60 and having over $200 worth of Day 1 DLC content killed evolve before it had a real chance to grow.
If you like games where you can use tactics, have a fair balance between players and enjoy every second... don't play this game.
This game deserves the name Walking Simulator, considering this is how you will spent 90% of your time. You will be chasing after the monster player, which could go on for 20 minutes or even longer, at which point he/she will be level 3, and you will die inevitably. The balance between monsters and hunters is way off, as some hunters are clearly defenceless in some cases. As the medic you'll be the most valuable player, but it won't mean anything is your teammates don't defend you.
This is the game that managed to promise and deliver emptiness like Destiny did. It has no single player, a tacky fake campaign and just 4 modes. Apart from Hunt, no one even plays the other ones.
The good points: Graphics are excellent, and bugs are very rare. Probably because the game is so empty of meaning.
And finally, the DLC is just pathetic. Trying cram in paid skins in a game you already paid 60 bucks for. Absolutely shameless.
This game was a massive disappointment, and just a lazy attempt at making a game in general. I felt cheated out of my money. I rate this game bad, it gets a 4/10.
SummaryIn a savage world of man against nature, will you the hunter or the hunted? The hammer or the nail? The creators of Left 4 Dead, Turtle Rock Studios, bring you EVOLVE, an evolution of multiplayer shooters in which four hunters face off against a single, player-controlled monster. Stalk your prey, execute your attack and prove you are the...
