At last Firefall came out from its everlasting beta period, as a solid MMO/TPS meant to be played with a small group of friend. It's not a revolution, but has its interesting peculiarities.
I played Firefall, back when it first came out in Beta. It was fantastic showcase of what a real MMO could be, community driven and centric. You did not need to party up to go out and make some friends and have a blast.
The best way to describe it at the time, was Borderlands with Jetpacks the MMO, Thumping (Community Driven content that rewarded everyone) was an amazing experience. I have not had the pleasure of playing a game of its like since.
The game did suffer in some regards, however all the game modes and content were fine, if just needing a bit of refinement. I loved playing the PVP gamemode. I loved the gliding mini-games. I was in love with the world and how its story was told through events, logs and terminals much like how newer games have them even now. The PVE Mobs were repetitive, and it was a sandbox. The fun came from using the tools you had to enjoy the game. (Firebats Flying infinitely, Bastions spamming mini-turrets, Biotechs leaving a fart trail as they dove to ressurect people)
I was there to see its rise, and its sharp decline that many are rightfully upset about.
Many people review bombing this now dead game did not play it. They do not remember how the game was killed by its investors and threw the maker under the bus. (Literally too.)
Mark Kern is an Autistic fellow, but he made a game that was fantastic, it might not have made a lot of money, but it made enough to stay afloat and continue development had the investors not decided to cash out and replace Mark.
Tencent much like EA killing Westwood studios, killed Red5 Studios. I will forever hold this games memory in my heart and pray for the day something like it comes along.
This game during the Beta held so much life, care and hope. After its release with the removal of mark, came the removal of content and a poorly constructed adaptation of a WoW clone in some fashion that turned into a CashShop.
You may not like him, this Game however still holds a large community captivate and yearning for its return, nothing you can do or say will ever change that.
Firefall has potential, but it’s not quite there just yet. A little bit more restructuring and beefing up in some areas will help Firefall evolve, if Red 5 Studios can give more time and money to the project. Hopefully it keeps developing the title, as it does have potential.
Firefall is middling. If you have free time to spare, the fact that it won’t cost you anything to try is a huge win. If it manages to sink its teeth into you over the first few hours, you might just be hooked. Personally, I’ll pass.
All Firefall’s opening does is shove your face right up against grubby textures, shoddy animations, and invisible walls. Your first two hours with it will see you retreading ground completing repetitive fetch quests for characterless NPCs in a world that does nothing to excite the eye...You have to wade through that swill of a beginning to understand Firefall’s potential.
this game is really good because you can play singleplayer or multiplayer and there is a storyline that you can follow, best game ever. you must download this game because its free on steam!
the graphics, textures, and landscapes for this game on ultra settings are amazing and beautiful. but the put to little detail into the characters, and enemies. and game play is not the best. i would recommend this game to someone who wants a visual **** not for someone who enjoys good gameplay
one of those games downloaded in steam that is free that is not disappointing, so far so good for me .. have liked read all their reviews and videos and so far i am impressed with how they upgrade every time they open up the game,
the levelling is also not that hard to follow 2-3 days will you good level with all the necessary equipment needed, the battleframes classes are awesome im going medic!
see ya out there COPA!
Sorry Firefall but I'm jumping ship. I can't wait this long for new updates. It has been 4 years of beta up to this point and you still haven't decided what you want your game to be. Let's face it, the game is still in beta. Now you are working on yet another new update which will drastically change the whole system with no release date in sight. It will take another 1-2 years before it fully sees the light of day since you have decided to release this new update in parts. I have had enough of waiting and deleted my character because it's time for me to move onto greener pastures where the future is more certain. P.S; Please stop removing and changing things in the game when they were working just fine in the first place. Yours Sincerely; A disgruntled player who bought the Commanders Founder pack and had a lot of fun despite of the decisions made at the top.
It would be a decent product for what you pay, but there are plenty of good F2P games to spend time on.
The gunplay is nice... inspired by Tribes, and dumbed down. The MMO aspects severely lack.
Give it a shot, then delete it and move on. Investing time or money in it will just disappoint. Its a failure ****... and one they're desperately trying to monetize.
SummaryEarth will never be the same. After the Crystite Wars, humanity inadvertently invited the worst enemy ever conceived: THE MELDING. It surrounds us. It forces us to live in pockets of land protected only by the accidental discovery of repulsor technology. We continue to fight for land. For technology. For power. For our very survival. JOI...
