Heavenstrike Rivals is a nice mix of Japanese aesthetics and Western gameplay ideas. It's like fusion cuisine in video game form.

A really well designed JRPG with RTS fights plenty of characters to choose from and evolve and great atmosphere.
Despite a few flaws, this free-to-play strategy game is a fun mix of new and old strategy formulas.
At the very least, you can certainly say this: It’s very pretty, and very fun.
Any game that rewards you for stepping way needs a good talking to. [June 2015, p.79]
I see Heavenstrike Rivals as a mobile game that just happens to have connections in console gaming.
